General description

With lots of pockets of various sizes, the 13w Desk lamp with organiseris perfect to keep everything close at hand. The multi-position shade rotates to adjust light while the flexible neck easily adjusts the light angle over your projects. The various pocket sizes and depths accommodate a range of items to suit your needs. The upper storage area is wide with tiered compartments while the lower storage tray has rounded compartments for easy access to smaller items.

Items included

  • LED light box and desk lamp
  • Light bulb
  • EU plug adaptor for use when product is to be used outside the UK in Europe.

Orientation

Note: Be careful when rotating or moving the lamp to ensure there is sufficient space between you and the lamp head.

The organiser lamp consists of a round base formed of two storage levels with 12 different compartments. At the base of the lamp is the lower storage tray. Above this, the upper storage compartments can be found within the rounded base. The top edge of the upper storage level is shaped at an angle for easy access to the inner compartments. In the centre of this upper storage levelbegins the flexible lamp arm andon the end of this is the lamp head/shade.

Back

Position the lamp so that the highest point of the upper storage level is facing towards you. (Be careful when rotating the lamp to ensure there is space for the lamp head to move past.) Just above the lower tray where the compartment dividers meet the centre, directly below the highest point of the upper storage level, the power cable is permanently attached.

Using the product

Lamp assembly

  • Unpack all lamp parts and lay out with the circular base sitting flat on a steady surface.
  • Your product was shipped with a UK plug, ready for connection to UK power socket. In addition, there is also an EU mains adaptor included in the box. This should only be used if the product is to be used outside the UK in Europe. The adaptor can be installed easily by connecting it to the existing UK plug. Ensure that the adapter is not already in the wall when inserting plug. For use with EU style plug, take the adaptor in your hand and insert the plug attached to the light into the corresponding holes in the adapter.
  • Install the lamp shade (see Install the Lamp Shade section.)
  • Install the lamp tube (See TUBE INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL) instructions.
  • Plug the lamp into a standard power socket.
  • Adjust the position of the lamp shade by grasping it near the flexible neck and re-position.
  • Turn on or off
Installing the lamp shade
  • To install the shade onto the lamp, lay the shade in front of you on its curved edge.
  • Locate the innerflat panel of the shade and position it furthest away from you.
  • Now locate at the opposite end the rounded section that rises above the rest of the shade. You should be able to feel a notch cut out of the edge of this curved piece.
  • On the end of the flexible arm you can feel a larger rounded section; this forms the shade’s socket housing. At the top edge of this section you should feel a break in the edge. This will be called the “tab”.
  • Align the shade’s notch with the tab of the socket housing and push into the socket assembly making sure the shade snaps into place.
  • The shade should now be able to be rotated. You should notice that when it rotates, it becomes slightly stiffer just in front of the tab. This is normal.

Turning the lamp on/off

Please note: The on/off switch only rotatesone way and must not be forced in the opposite direction or this will damage the switch.

The on/off switch to operate the lamp is housed on a small box section found on the power cable. The on/off switch is a ridged rotary dial protruding out of the sides of this box. Be aware that this rotary dial only rotates one way and must not be forced in the opposite direction or this will damage the switch.

Position the box section in your hand so that the cable leading towards the lamp is running up and away from you. In this position the dial should be able to be rotated downwards with your thumb (it will not rotate in the opposite direction). If the dial is not rotated far enough in the off position, the dial will quickly flick back to its central position and the lamp will not turn on. To turn the lamp on, rotate the dial downwards until you hear a click or feel a sudden stop. To turn off, rotate again in the same direction until you hear a click and you feel the dial release.

Tube installation and removal

Sighted assistance may be required.

  • Ensure that the lamp is not plugged into an electrical socket.
  • If the lamp has been in use, allow it to cool for approximately 5 minutes before proceeding.
  • Rotate the shade so that the notch in the base of the shade is positioned over the tab located on the socket assembly. To help locate this, you should find when rotating the shade that it feels stiffer to rotate at two points in close succession. Between these two points is the alignment for the tab and the notch.
  • Remove the shade by holding the section at the top of the flexible arm tightly. With the other hand, pulling the shade straight out from the socket assembly. Ensure that it is pulled straight up as it could knock the light bulb when being removed.
  • To install a tube in the socket, grasp the tube firmly in your hand, position the tube so that the pins are aligned with the socket receptacle then push the tube straight into the socket until it “snaps” into place.
  • To remove a tube already installed in the lamp, grasp it firmly at the base and, using a slight rocking motion, pull it straight out of the socket. DO NOT twist or turn the glass part of the tube. It is highly recommended to remove shade prior to inserting tube.
  • To replace the shade, align the notch of the shade with the tab of the socket housing then push it back into the socket assembly making sure the shade “snaps” into place.

Special Warning

  • This light is not dimmable.
  • If the external flexible cable or cord of this luminaire is damaged, it must be exclusively replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent. If it becomes damaged, follow the returns procedure in the terms and conditions.
  • Indoor use only.
