Job Objective:

This position leads programme development, fundraising, sponsorship management and donorcommunication relatedplan, strategies in AAIN.This role enables and ensures smooth functioning and increase financial resources for AAIN’s CSP Objectives by leading, managing coordinating and monitoring the team.

External:
  • Maintain networks and linkages with alliance partners, local partners and region/s and Donor Organisations, e.g. DFID, EC, various embassies, etc.
  • Provide regular and relevant information updates to other AA Country Programmes, the regional office, and alliance partners
  • Information sharing and seeking among/from Country Programmes/Development Areas/alliance partners/regional office.

Major Areas of Responsibilities

  1. Strategically manage all resource generation, fundraising activities to support the objectives of AAINthrough the development of project proposals that reflect AAIN's policy and programmatic focus
  2. Establish and facilitate the effective and sustainable integration of fundraising into the relevant departments within the Country Programme
  3. Establish, maintain and oversee all the necessary and relevant external communicationsrelated to donor
  4. Manage staff and budget of Programme Development and Resource Generation department
  5. Ensure smooth functioning of the Child Rights and Sponsorship management unit
  6. Other responsibility

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Involve in raising funds to support objectives of AAIN and projects that reflect AAIN's policy and programmatic focus
  • Through donor scoping, and with support to other AAIN staff, identify potential funding opportunities and manage the application process in coordination with different objective focal persons.
  • Maintain communication and build networks with potential and current donor organizations.
  • Be responsible for the fundraising strategy that will support AAIN to gain and implement projects that reflect AAIN's policy and programmatic focus. In the process of this, you will also support AAIN's work with national and local partners.
  • Work with the relevant theme leads and communications staff to develop fundraising proposals to donors, fund-raising publications, communications materials, such as press releases.
  • Maintain and share a tracking system of all project proposals and their status.
  • Develop a capacity building programme to create an enabling fundraising culture and relevant fundraising capacity andcapability across AAIN
  • Explore opportunities and establish partnerships for developing social enterprises to ensure sustainable financing for AAIN programmes
  1. Establish and facilitate sustaining effective integration among the departments within Country Programme
  • Work closely with all Teams and Departmentsespecially with the Programme team in order to develop relevant and quality proposals.
  • Actively explore an implement fundraising opportunities among the various departments and teams.
  • Within the organisation, play a proactive role in facilitating debate on, and sharing experiences of, existing and emerging issues of concern to AAIN
  • Actively work with teams to consolidate learning from programmes, from failed project proposals, and findings from research, campaigns and advocacy offices, and other networks
  1. Establish, maintain and oversee all the necessary Donor communications
  • Establish and facilitate sustaining of linkages with media, bilateral and multilateral agencies, INGOs NGOs, networks and movements.
  • Develop or advise on the content for information brochures; reviews and edits drafts of important correspondence, reports, and brochures for mass distribution n
  • Working with the Theme Leads and others, manage the drafting of articles and reports on the status of major initiatives for distribution to partners, prospects, the general public, volunteer support groups, and special interest groups.
  • Work with relevant Theme Leads to identify and establish linkages with all stakeholders in the development sector to developand support common issues of concern.

  • Participate as a proactive member of the international fundraising team, attending team meetings and providing advice and support to fellow team members
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders within the ActionAid fundraising community
  • Keep abreast of social, marketing and fundraising trends and network with appropriate external organizations to inform thinking.

Occasional Duties:

  • Undertake corporate responsibilities as assigned by the CD
  • Advocate mainstreaming of AA's core values gender, equity and justice within and outside the organisation

Authority

  • Financial: budget holding, payment authorization
  • Line managing staff in the PDRGDepartment
  • Other as mandated by AAIN's HR/OD Policy and Financial Policy

Accountability

  • Ensure timely support to, and co-ordination with, partners
  • Prepare statutory plans and reports of the Programme Development and Resource GenerationDepartment
  • Ensure the development of Fundraisingstaff under one's line management
  • Ensure and inform mobility vis a vis Travel Protocol with Country Director & other senior mgmt team members
  • Maintain compliance with AAIN's organisational policies

Working conditions

  • Travel both in country and if needed out of the country
  • Significant use of computer

Job Competencies

  • Master's Degree in Management with specialization in Marketing or other relevant field
  • Seven years of experience in similar position in development or private sector, with at least three years in senior level management
  • Solid experience managing a medium to large base of regular giving supporters, with proven expertise in all current direct marketing techniques

Required Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of oral and written communications
  • Knowledge of fund-raising techniques including, but not limited to: proposal writing; public relations; prospect research; donor relations and stewardship; volunteer management; and correspondence management.
  • Professional level skills in graphics and knowledge of desktop publishing for in-house graphics design and production.
  • Skill in writing and editing news and feature articles. Ability to write/edit in a variety of writing styles, ability to draft materials on a wide range of topics. Strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • The ability to translate complex technical language and ideas into language easily comprehensible to non-specialists.
  • Interpersonal skills to facilitate work with a wide range of individuals and groups from culturally diverse publics.
