Constitution of the Iowa State University Rubik’s Cube Club.

Vote of Club Members and Club Officers
1)Name and relationship to Iowa State University
a)The name of this organization shall be Iowa State University Rubik’s Cube Club hereby referred as the acronym ISUCC,
b)The Constitution of ISUCC shall be considered subordinate to the constitution of the Government of the Student Body (GSB) and the rules in place by the Student Activities Center (SAC).
c)ISUCC shall abide by Iowa State University policies as well as local, state, and federal laws.
2)Purpose
a)To provide a friendly environment for both the experienced and the novice Rubik’s Speedcuber.
b)To provide education to members on solution techniques of any Rubik’s Cube associated puzzle.
c)To attend Rubik’s speedcubing competitions at various locations.
d)To provide the supplies needed for Rubik’s speedcubing.
e)To encourage similar education among others outside of the club through outreach events.
f)To protect the safety of club members and the general public.
g)To encourage education in general among club members.
3)Membership
a)Membership and voting privileges are restricted to registered Iowa State University students.
b)Voting privileges shall be restricted to those who have paid the dues for a given semester.
c)Members not abiding by safety rules will be expelled from the club under majority vote of officers.
d)The Iowa State University Rubik's Cube Club is open to registered students at Iowa State and does not discriminate on the basis ofrace, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex, marital status, disability or status as a U.S. Veteran.
4)Dues
a)Dues shall be determined at the beginning of each semester by a unanimous decision of the club officers.
b)If unanimity is not achieved then no dues shall be collected for the semester.
c)Club dues may not exceed twenty dollars and zero cents for any given semester.
5)Officer Duties
a)The President has the duty of leading and organizing both general club meetings and officer meetings. At least one general meeting should be held each month while classes are in session. It is also the President’s responsibility to organize club events, serve as a contact person for the club, and maintain communication with the club’s adviser. The President is responsible for upholding the constitution.
b)The Vice-President assists the president and is responsible for the President’s duties when the President is not present. The Vice-President is also the primary officer in charge of safety.
c)The Treasurer is responsible for the finances of the club and collecting dues each semester.
d)Additional officer positions beyond the above three may be added or removed as the current executive board sees fit without need for amendment to this constitution. The names of at least five members of club officers will be officially listed with the SAC at all times.
6)Officer Election
a)The officers of this club shall collectively be called the Executive Board.
b)Officers are elected by a plurality vote of club members at the end of the fall semester. In the event of a tie, a run off will take place between the two candidates. The elected officers’ duties take effect the first meeting of the following semester and last for two semesters.
c)An officer can be removed by 2/3 vote by the voting members of the club. Before the vote takes place the officer will be given the opportunity to speak to the club. To initiate this vote a petition with signatures of 1/2 of the club members must be provided.
d)Officers must have a minimum cumulative grade point average(GPA) as stated below and meet that minimum cumulative GPA in the semester immediately prior to the election/appointment, the semester of election/appointment, and the semesters during the term of office. For undergraduate students the minimum GPA is 2.00. In order for this provision to be met, at least six hours(half-time credits) must have been taken for the semester under consideration.
e)Officers must be in good standing with the university and enrolled: at least half time (six or more credit hours), if an undergraduate student (unless fewer credits are required to graduate in the spring and fall semesters) during the term of office, and at least half time (four or more credits), if a graduate level student (unless fewer credits are required in the final stages of their degree as defined by the Continuous Registration Requirement) during their term of office.
f)Officers are considered ineligible to hold an office if they fail to meet either of the above two items. No petition or votes are necessary to remove them in this situation.
g)Officers may resign at any time.
h)All vacancies during the semester will be filled by a special election that follows normal election rules.
7)Adviser Duties
a)The Adviser is responsible for staying in contact with the executive board.
b)The Adviser is to be aware of all financial expenditures.
c)It is the Adviser’s duty to ensure the club conforms to the standards set forth by Iowa State University and the Student Activities Center.
8)Adviser Election
a)The Adviser’s term is indefinite so long as the adviser remains at Iowa State University.
b)The Adviser may be removed at any given time by the same procedure prescribed above for the removal of officers.
c)Advisers may resign at any time.
d)In the event of an adviser vacancy a new adviser will be selected by the club and approved by majority vote of all members.
9)Meetings
a)Meetings shall be arranged on a regular basis by the officers of the organization.
b)Meetings will not be held on holidays and if a 3/4 vote from the members is received to cancel the meeting.
c)One formal meeting will occur each semester. The date will be chosen by the officers.
10)Finances
a)All monies belonging to this organization shall be deposited and disbursed through a bank account established for this organization at the Campus Organizations Accounting Office and/or approved institution/office (must receive authorization via Campus Organizations Accounting Office). All funds must be deposited within 24 hours after collection. The Adviser to this organization must approve and sign every expenditure before payment.
b)All financial expenditures must be in the general interest of the club as a whole.
c)Should this club be dissolved all money coming from dues shall be returned to current dues paying members, and all money coming from outside funding organizations shall be returned to the organization from which that money came.
11)Amendments and Ratification
2This item is an exact duplicate of a statement in the SAC Constitution and Bylaws Guidelines
a)The constitution must be ratified by a 2/3 vote of club members.
b)Amendments may be proposed by any club member. If the amendment is supported by any officer it must be brought to a vote. A 2/3 vote will add the amendment to the constitution.
c)All changes in the constitution must be reported to the Student Activity Center within a week.
