Job title / Inclusion ManagerPrinciple Responsibilities / To support the Head Teacher by taking responsibility for the onsite inclusion centre, home school and alternative provision. To be responsible for the ongoing development, assessment and provision of these complementary services to teachers and support staff in school, addressing the needs of children who require help to overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside the school, in order to achieve their full potential.
Support for the Pupils /
- To manage and co-ordinate the effective and efficient transfer of pupils through the various phases of inclusion within school and alternative provision
- To determine appropriate support packages for individuals and groups of pupils to achieve the goals defined in their individual action plans.
- To lead on inclusion referral process
- To liaise with all relevant agencies relating to the child
- To maintain effective records of referrals and information relating to inclusion and alternative education pupils
- To collate and co-ordinate the necessary referrals for pupils accessing AlternativeProvision
- To develop and manage the provision for students whose needs require them to follow a more bespoke curriculum
- To act as a role model for all pupils and staff within the inclusion and alternative provision setting
- To set high expectations for pupils, staff, parents and carers.
- To manage the development and promotion of inclusive practices and the acceptance of all pupils
- To encourage pupils to interact and work cooperatively with others and to engage in activities
- To manage the development and deployment of strategies to promote pupil self esteem and independence within established school procedure
- To provide feedback to pupils, parents, carers and other stakeholders, in relation to achievement and attainment
- To be a Child Protection Officer
Support for the Teacher /
- Support inclusion referral process via inclusion meetings to identify those children who would benefit most from inclusion support
- Lead and manage the comprehensive assessment of children selected by the Headteacher or his/her nominated representative, to identify those who need extra help to overcome barriers to learning inside and outside school
- To lead a team of identified staff to manage the development and implementation of actions plans for individual and groups of pupils as per their needs
- To establish a clear framework for pupil discipline, anticipate and manage pupil behaviour constructively, promoting self-control and independence, in line with established school policy
- To maintain regular contact with families / carers of children in need of extra support, keeping them informed of the child’s needs and progress and to secure positive family support and involvement
- To work closely with the teachers, middle leaders and SENCO to ensure that the needs of all children are met
- To disseminate appropriate information to all staff to ensure effective transition of pupils in and out of inclusion
- To lead inclusion briefings to disseminate and gather information
Support for the Curriculum /
- To provide an appropriate curriculum in line with school priorities for pupils accessinginclusion support
- To ensure pupils on alternative provision are accessing appropriate qualifications
- To have and disseminate knowledge and appreciation of the range of activities, courses, opportunities, agencies and services that could be drawn upon to provide extra support for pupils
Support for the School /
- To comply with all school policies and in particular the procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection. To report all concerns to the appropriate person
- To be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn, develop and feel valued, respecting their social, cultural, linguistic, religious and ethnic background
- To contribute to the school ethos, aims and development/improvement plan
- In collaboration with Assistant Head Teacher Attendance, Behaviour and Inclusion and the SENCO and other appropriate members of staff, manage the sharing of relevant information between local agencies and schools and be a point of contact for accessing a range of community and specialist support services for example, Social Services, Education Welfare Service and alternative provision providers
- To report on the implementation of all action plans to the Headteacher and governing body
- To attend and participate in network meetings sharing best practice to support others
- To undertake personal development through training and other learning activities including performance management as required
- To undertake all associated paperwork and admin for the role
Line Management /
- To take a lead role in the recruitment and selection of support staff and manage associated employment procedures including effective induction to all support staff posts
- To undertake management responsibility for inclusion staff, and other identified support staff, including performance reviews, attendance, training and development
- To be responsible for the effective communication with the wider staff and the inclusion team
- To lead inclusion team meetings
