1. Possible Visitor today: Mrs. Hamm will be talking about how we will help out with After Prom decorations (theme: NYC). Possibly today and for our April meeting we will divide up into groups to make the following (1) banner for entrance (2) food cart signs (3) draw life size taxis (4) graffiti decorations for poles.

2. Attendance & Making up meetings: Attendance is mandatory. When you are absent or if you have to leave early, you are required to make up the meeting. By the following week you are to turn in to Ms. Barba 15 pictures (of action verbs) on white computer paper. See online for details. These will be used for the Foreign Language Department for all languages. If they are not turned in to Ms. Barba by the following Thursday you membership will be dismissed automatically. These hand drawn pictures will be due to Ms. Barba by the next week. A member can only miss 2 excused meetings per year.

3 Art Show permission slips: All members are required to help set-up the Art Show on Friday, April 25th. You will be dismissed for lunch for your regular time. If you have a test or something important that you are unable to miss for a class, you are welcome to go to your class, but expected to return to the main gym for setting up the art show. Return slips to Ms. Barba by Friday, April 4th. Place on Ms. Barba’s desk in the mezzanine. She has a purple ball hanging above her desk.

4. Art Show Sign-up: Every member is required to be at the art show from 6:45pm – 9:30

pm. Put this down in your planner for Friday, April 25th.

-Selling baked goods & pasta angel ornaments (also will have a donation bucket)

-College Art fair check-in (certificate, and lead them to their

assigned table)

-Check in art students from other schools (certificate, and lead them to their assigned

table)

-taking down artwork (all members are required to help out)

-Sign-in: have guests to sign the “guest book”

-Floaters: walk around the show to see if anything fell down and if so tape it up. You are also

to float around to “WELCOME” guests.

-Ushers: welcome individuals when they enter and leave our school. You will also have

pieces of papers to have them write their comments about the show.

-Educational Table: working with students who are younger through art activities

a. All members are required to dress up for the event. Try to wear purple (Society

color)

5. Bring in artwork for Art Show: All members are required to submit an art piece for the art show. This must be something that was not done for a class in school. This can be a photograph taken by you, 3-d sculpture, digital art, crocheting, painting, sketch etc. There will be a section for National Art Honor Society students.

6. SIGN-UP SHEET for Induction Night on May: All members are required to help

out either through setting up, take down, ushering, taking pictures or bringing in food.

-Seniors: required to bring in one work of art to display

It takes a long time for a PowerPoint to be put together. It is easier to get it done this month and not next month. Next month the focus is the art show.

14. Service Credits for Foreign Language posters: Not all members completed the poster

credits for the semester or didn’t sign up for a credit. If that is the case, you are required

to do 2 posters by Monday if you still would like to be considered a member.

16. ArtWorks applications are due March 31 if you are interested in becoming an art

intern for the summer. It is a paid internship. There are limited spots. Remember

anytime you ask a teacher for a letter of recommendation, give that teacher AT LEAST a

week to write the letter. It is out of etiquette. Also, out of etiquette you are to send a

THANK YOU note to anybody writing a letter of recommendation.

17. Arts in Strongsville is an organization that promotes the arts in Strongsville. They give

out scholarships to SHS Seniors. It helps when you participate or volunteer in the

following.

-Chalk Walk in May

-Day at the Chalet in September (service credit opportunity)

-Scholarship for Seniors

18. Doodle for Google: See attached forms. Prizes: trip to California to Google

headquarters, scholarship, tablet etc.

19. Any members interested in building resume yet doing goodwill for the elderly: the “Village” would be willing for you to show your artwork as a Society on a certain day. You can show your artwork for a few hours. Sign-up sheet if interested. This would not be for credit. But, if we get about 5 students interested who can show at least 5 works of art, I will set up a date and time for you.

20. IDEAS to stay connected with art over the summer:

a. Help EAC (European Adoption Consultants) in Strongsville with decorations

b. Attend craft fairs in different cities

c. Take art classes at the Artists Collaborative in Hinckley

21. Extra t-shirts: if interested see Ms. Barba (first come first serve)

22. Today we will (1) vote on designs for Art Show certificates (2) create mural for our younger visitors at the Art Show (3) think of art activity for our younger visitors that will come to our Art Show

23. Art show publicity: write article for the post

24. Our Town: Ms. Swanson is working on the play “Our Town” and is looking for art students to create work that is Strongsville related. This artwork can be featured by the main doors on display boards. This can be 2-d or 3-d work.

25. Mural volunteers needed: Christ Church is looking for student volunteers to paint a mural in their church of cobblestone and a store front. You can paint after school or perhaps early summer. If you are interested, sign your name on the sign-up sheet. Art teacher, Mrs. Bluemel, will share your contact information with Christ Church.

April: Elections, prepare for Induction night & After prom decorations

May: Last meeting. Members will receive meeting dates for next year. Seniors are not required to attend.

May 7: (7pm-8pm) Senior Recognition Night. All underclassmen members are required to help out either by bringing in food, setting up, taking down, or during the ceremony.
