Graphic Design Competition – Live brief

Overview

Ever gone to a big music concert and wondered how it all happens?

This is your opportunity to get ‘exclusive’ behind the scenes access to how it all works and what careers and qualifications are involved!

Go Higher West Yorkshire and Production Park are working together to organise ‘Access All Areas’, an evening showcasing Higher Education and careers in the live events industry.

Production Park is home to Backstage Academy, aunique training facility created solely for the live events industry located in South Kirby, Wakefield. They are opening their doors for this exclusive event on an evening during April 2018, 6pm-8.30pm.

What is the ‘live events’ industry?

Anything to do with ‘live’ performances from lighting, staging and sound to catering, make up and costume design!

What will the event involve?

-A tour of the Production Park, including staging, lighting, design and some exciting stage props!

-Live performances

-Lighting and Sound demonstrations

-Information on university and college courses linked to the ‘live’ events industry including the Backstage Academy

How much will it cost?

No cost to you! Go Higher West Yorkshire will be providing free transport for eligible students and their parents, families and carers, plus refreshments will be provided as part of the evening.

Want to get involved further and create the poster for the event?

As every good event needs a marketing campaign, we would like to invite you to submit entries to design the poster for this event. The winning entry will see their design developed by a professional graphic designer and used as the artwork for the event.

Brief and specification

Design an A3 poster for the event including the following information:

Event name and strap line: Access All Areas’, an evening showcasing Higher Education and careers in the live events industry.

Date and time: an evening in April 2018, 6-8.30pm.

Location: Production Park, Langthwaite Grange Industrial Estate, 5 Langthwaite Rd, South Kirkby, Pontefract WF9 3AP.

Event/key information (not essential to include but you may want to add to improve your poster):

Winning Entries

There will be 2 age categories for the competition:

  • 14-16 year olds
  • 17-19 year olds

A winner will be selected from each category. There will be one overall winner decided between the 2 category winners. The overall winner will receive £50 worth of shopping vouchers. The other winner will receive £25 worth of shopping vouchers.

The overall winner will also get the chance to go with a friend to Production Park to work with professional graphic designers to produce their artwork for the final poster. They will receive a framed copy of their poster which will be used to promote the event.

Winners will get VIP Access All Areas treatment on the evening of the event and all entrants will receive certificates. All entries will be exhibited on the evening for visitors to see and featured on the Go Higher West Yorkshire Website.
