The Northern Manhattan Fellowship (NMF) is currently accepting applications from Northern Manhattan
non-profit and community leaders.
NMF is a professional development and networking program geared towards strengthening local leaders, agencies, and Northern Manhattan.This cohort will meet from March 2015 to November 2015.
The application deadline is Friday, February13, 2015 at 12:00pm.

The Northern Manhattan Fellowship Highlights
Monthly professional development seminars addressing core non-profit skills
Participate in monthly committee meetings focused on grant-making or development.
Meet with Northern Manhattan and city-wide leaders and funders.
Network and build relationships with other Northern Manhattan organizations and professionals.
Gain access to additional resources and best practices.
Receive a certificate of accomplishment at the closing ceremony
The Northern Manhattan FellowshipObjectives
NMFconnects mid-level professionals with fellow leaders and experts in the non-profit and community organizing world. Through 9 months of Northern Manhattan-focused trainings and hands-on activities, NMF aims to help Fellows achieve the following objectives:
Networking Skills: Fellows will have increased confidence in their ability to build connections with other
professionals through networking.
PartnershipBuilding: Fellows will improve their ability to build sustainable and successful partnerships
with other Fellows, seminar speakers, and member agencies.
Leadership & Professional Skills: Fellows will strengthen their non-profit professional skills and
gain a better understanding of their personal leadership style.
Community Awareness: Fellows will increase their awareness of existing communities and
agencies in Northern Manhattan, as well as the issues that the diverse neighborhoods face.
Professional Use of Self: Fellows will improve their understanding and awareness of their role within
their agency and how to effectively use their knowledge and skills.

STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT
I agree that if accepted to The Northern Manhattan Fellowship, I will attend all meetings barring an
emergency. I understand that failure to attend multiple meetings may result in dismissal from the
Fellowship. I intend to complete the program to the best of my abilities.
SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS

- Identify three skills you would like to develop through the Fellowship and three ways you would add to the Fellowship cohort.
- Describe a major issue impacting Northern Manhattan, how it affects your agency or community, and possible solutions.

Agency Commitment Letter
The Northern Manhattan Fellowship will require a minimum commitment of 5 hours per month (divided between two mornings). Therefore, we ask that the Executive Director or direct supervisor submit a statement affirming the applicant’s commitment to the Fellowship and a guarantee that the applicant will be able to attend all Fellowship meetings and fulfill all requirements. In addition, this letter affirms the supervisor’s support of the applicants skills and eligibility for the Fellowship, and confirms the applicants skills and necessary attributes for success in the Fellowship. (If the applicant is the Executive Director, s/he is exempt from submitting an agency commitment letter, but will still need a letter of recommendation from a Board Member.) This letter may be included as part of the documents sent by the applicant, or it can be mailed, emailed, or faxed directly from the recommender.
