Weller PTO Meeting
August 22, 2017

The meeting is the first to be held for the 2017-2018 school year. Fourteen members were present. The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. by President Anjeanette Rettig. Introductions of current board members were made. We have a new social media chair.

Principal’s Report was shared by Mr. Boeke. A staffing update was given. Hilary Lindauer left the district and Matt Rohling and Lauren Kelley moved to Cline. Fourth grade teachers Matt Moyer and Lindsey LaValley are back along with new paraprofessionals: Christa Reis (IMC) and Mona Habig (5th). WiFi is now available in the gym and MPR and another cart with 30 chrome books has been added. Working with Washington Twp to have Fiber installed by summer 2018. We are moving to a 1:1 ratio for Chrome books. MAP testing will take place August 28 – September 8th. AIR testing will also take place October 23rd and 24th with spring AIR testing April 5th. Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough sale begins August 31 and runs until September 13.

Treasurer’s Report was shared by Bonnie Smith. We have a budget of $25,200 this year. The budget was approved.

Anjeanette provided an overview of the PTO and the following updates:

·  Main Fundraisers: Otis Spunkmeyer & PTO Membership

o  Supplemental: Rebates (Boxtops, Kroger, Skateworld) & Takeovers

·  Events: Read-a-thon will still be in the fall but will no longer be a fundraiser. Family Fun night will take place in the spring.

·  Things we fund:

o  Teacher & Grade Allotments ($200/teacher & $600 per grade)

o  Cincy Museum on Wheels for each grade

o  Hospitality – meals for staff around conferences & teacher appreciation week

o  Our office staff will make copies & distribute flyers for us (we usually collate ourselves)

o  Books for IMC & Book Room

·  School Supplies Update

o  Delayed due to a transport issue

o  Most were delivered last Thursday

o  Looking into different companies (School Specialty and Friends Office)

·  New Weller Website - subscribe to calendar

·  Weller PTO Facebook page

·  Volunteers – Reminder to fill out online forms! PTO Chairs should receive the volunteer spreadsheet by early September. PTO Chairs may use this as a resource to assist with placement of volunteers according to their position’s/activity’s needs.

·  Homeroom Parents – there are 2 classroom parties in October (Tues Oct 31) and February (Wed Feb 14) from 1-2 PM. The homeroom parents organizational meeting is on Thursday Sept. 14 at 9:00 AM in the MPR. Form is available here.

Committee Reports:

·  Kroger Update (Kylene Spalding) – From Feb 1 – April 30, we received $1500. There is no need to re-enroll this year! There will be a contest in the fall with prizes of 2 $25 gift cards per grade.

·  Membership – 183 families have joined so far (212 joined last year so we are on track)

·  Spiritwear – Using a new company called Believe Kids. PTO earns 10% of each sale and will run Aug 23 – Sep 8.

·  Gift Cards - it was suggested to look into Shop with Scripts

Next meeting will be September 19, 2017 at 9AM in the Weller MPR.
