Daily Pilgrimage Itinerary
During our pilgrimage in Southern France we will be adjusting ourselves to living in harmony with sacred time & sacred space. In order to facilitate this connection with sacred time, and to begin to move and walk as on hallowed ground, the days of our retreat schedule will generally be divided into 4 quadrants: morning, afternoon, evening, and night. You will see this in full detail once your final itinerary and pilgrimage package is given to you in September 2014. The complete itinerary in your final package will be laid out in writing and also in a circular life wheel format, along with detailed descriptions of each day.
Our Retreat Leaders and Support Staff will be helping you progress in this journey as a personal pilgrimage, so please let us know if there is anything personally relevant to you that we can help with. Questing Spirit has been leading retreats, quests, and pilgrimages since 2001. In addition, our retreat leaders Phillip & Ana Jones have independently led retreats, large and small, for many years before Questing Spirit. We all have worked, prepared, and planned a great deal for this sacred pilgrimage in Southern France to be one of our most magnificent retreat experience yet!Regardless of how well we plan, the following schedules are still subject to changes due to weather conditions, access, timing conflicts, and any other situation that the retreat leaders, Ana & Phillip Jones, may determine warrants changes in order to fit the needs of the whole group at the time.

DAY 1 - THURSDAY SEPT. 18, 2014 - ARRIVAL DAY

UPON ARRIVAL AT TOULOUSE AIRPORT– Once you arrive at Toulouse Airport in Toulouse, France you will meet our driver Peter fromBarinca Travel & Tours, in order to be transported to our hotel in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The drive from the airport to the hotel will be approximately a one hour drive through the beautiful counrtyside of the region. Upon arrival at the hotel our coordinator will give you your room key and roommate assignment.
If you are traveling with a spouse, partner, or friend please let us know in advance and you will automatically be assigned that person as your roommate for the duration of the trip. If not, we have done our best to take all factors into consideration in assigning a roommate for you for the trip.
Our roommate assignments will place women to be roommates with women and men to be roommates with men. We are very good at making these kind of choices, and many roommates in our previous retreats have gone on to become good friends, some even long term spiritual family. However, if you are wanting or needing to change your roommate at any point along the trip this can be done by phone or email.
7:30-9:30pm - EVENING PROGRAM' & OPENING CIRCLE:After dinner at the hotel we will gather in the meditation hall for a Welcome Orientation, Opening Teachings, & Discussion for this pilgrimage including a Prayer, Intention, & Meditation Circle.
DAY 2 – Friday, September 19th

MORNING – Group Breakfast at MaisonTempliere’s Restaurant/Dining Facility, Prayer Circle, Gentle Yoga, Guided Meditation and Pilgrimage Teachings in the Meeting/Meditation Hall
After our morning program and a short break we will travel together by van and descend into the magnificent Gorge de Galamus, where there is a magical and mystical cave.
Thought by ancients to be a portal into the spirit world, the cave has long been inhabited by a small number of spiritual hermits and pilgrims who have been passing through for centuries. Pilgrims consider Galamus to be the “Holy Mountain" or “Sacred Mountain." This designation would likely originate with the miraculous healing that occurred there in 1782.
In modern day the cave is a Hermitage of St. Anthony. Inside the Hermitage is a place where Mary Magdalene is believed to have taught. In the Mary Magdalene cave, there is a basin which holds water from a healing spring.
Here you will have personal time to contemplate, reflect, and/or meditate, absorbing the infused spiritual power of this sanctuary of peace, love & healing.

DAY 3 – Saturday, September 20th

EARLY MORNING- Group Breakfast at MaisonTempliere’s Restaurant/Dining Facility. Followed by a Prayer Circle, Gentle Yoga, Guided Meditation and Pilgrimage Teachings in the Meeting/Meditation Hall
LATE MORNING & AFTERNOON–Today we travel together by van to the ancient city of Carcassonne, a place that will truly remind you of Camelot! Here we will walk the cobblestone streets of the ancient Cite' and explore some of the sacred sites within it's walls.
In 600BC Celtic tribes settled this rocky dome. For 1,600 years the old Cite of Carcassonne was a vibrant artisans colony, ceremonial center, cultural site and trade center. The Cite' played a pivotal role in medieval European history and is a crossroads for legends of The Grail.We will do a special Grail meditation in the courtyard of it's dream like castle, and tour it's unique church where sacred ceremony has taken place for centuries. This great walled city is remarkably intact and preserved, and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

DAY 4 – Sunday, September 21st - The Languedoc

LATE-MORNING & AFTERNOON- Group Lunch will be provided by Barinca.
Barinca Tours will pick up our group for an exciting day trip to Puilaurens, a Cathar Castle and Grail Castle located on the peak of a quartz crystal lined mountain in the foothills of the French Pyrenees.
Puilaurens, also known as the Château de Puilaurens,is a peace-filled place of refuge...The castle here once belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Michel de Cuxa before it was acquired by the Queen of Aragon in 1162. As Aragonese property it was outside the territory ravaged during the crusade against the Cathars and was therefore used as a place of refuge by the Cathars.

DAY 5 – Monday, September 22nd- The Languedoc --- FALL EQUINOX

LATE-MORNING & AFTERNOON-
Barinca Tours will pick up our group and transport us by van for a day of adventures at Rennes Le Chataeu. Our group lunch will be provided by Barinca at very quaint restaurant on the grounds at Rennes Le Chataeu. Here we will visit The Mary Magdalene Church and explore mysteries associated with the Holy Grail, Mary Magdalene, the Cathars, and more. Points of reflection will be the Tower of Magdala and The Tower of Alchemy which overlooks "The Valley of God."
Before we leave the area we will visit a very special place associated with ancient Goddess energy called the "Seat of Isis!!"
EVENING - Return to the hotel for group dinner and an evening closing circle in the meditation hall/meeting room
DAY 6 – Tuesday, September 23rd - The Languedoc

Barinca Tours will pick up our group for an exciting day trip and exhilarating hike up the trail ofthe sacred mountain and Cathar/Grail Castle calledMONTSEGUR, or Château de Montségur. (Pictured to the left...Montsegur photo by AnnekeKoremans)
The earliest signs of human settlement in this area date back to the stone age, around 80,000 years ago! The name of this sacred site comes from Latin 'monssecurus', which evolved into 'montségur' in Occitan, which means "safe hill." It's history also includes being the location of the last Cathar stronghold. The story of the siege of Montségur is one of the most moving of all the tragedies associated with the Cathars.

DAY 7 – Wednesday, September 24th - The Languedoc

LATE-MORNING & AFTERNOON- Barinca Tours will pick up our group for a day of adventures. Group Lunch provided by Barinca. Today we will visit Alet les Bains and the Notre Dame de Marceille in Limoux. The Black Madonna of Limoux, was found in the earth on special energy ley lines. It is told that a farmer ploughing a field on the slopes of Marcellan found his ox would not move. The ploughman started to dig where the ox had stopped and he found a wooden smiling Black Madonna. He took the statue home but the next morning it had reappeared back where he found it. This happened three times, and when the local monks heard, they built this chapel on the site. It is also the site of a sacred healing spring.
After connecting with the Black Madonnas of Limoux we will journey to Alet les Bains, a small town famous for many things including it's healing waters and being the hometown of Nostradamus. In addition to experiencing the healing waters of this special place, we will also be visiting the ruins of the Alet le Bains Abbey. The abbey was built in 813AD as a site consecrated to Mary, and is reported to have once been a reliquary for a piece of The True Cross, which attracted pilgrims from near and far. Here we will visit the remains of 2 towers, the tower of Archangel Michael and the tower of 'Our Lady' (Notre Dame).

DAY 8 – Thursday, September 25th--Departure Day

MID-MORNING & AFTERNOON- In the mid-morning we will all check out of our hotel and Barinca Tours will transport the group back to the Toulouse airport. BON VOYAGE!!
Those going on with us to Retreat 2 in Northern France will be given train tickets to ride together as a group to Paris, where we will spend the night at a 3 star hotel in Paris. Your train ticket and overnight accommodations are included for those going on with us to Paris ---see details in our COMBO PACKAGE or COMPLETE PACKAGE. Once we have reached the hotel we will check into our rooms and all have dinner on our own.
