Just moved to Oyster Point? Hope you packed your sneakers! Life Technologies is excited to announce the opening of the fitness center, Fit for Life – Oyster Point, on Monday, June 3.
Who will be working at the Fit for Life Fitness Center at Oyster Point?
The fitness center will be managed by a full-time staff member from MediFit Corporate Services. This is the same staffing team that manages Fit for Life – Carlsbad.
What are the fitness center’s hours of operation?
The fitness center is open Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Saturday through Sunday 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Members may use the facility outside of their regular designated work periods or during designated break periods with manager approval.
What are the fitness center STAFFED hours?
The fitness center will be open to all members during the hours outlined above but will have a trained staff member available during the following hours:
·  Monday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
·  Tuesday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
·  Wednesday: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
·  Thursday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
·  Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30PM
Where is the fitness center located?
As you enter the main entrance in building 180 on the first floor, the fitness center is to the right of the coffee bar and recreation area.
Who is eligible to join the fitness center?
All Life Technologies employees and their spouses / domestic partners are eligible for enrollment.
May I bring my children into the fitness center with me when I work-out?
Unfortunately for safety reason, you will not be able to bring your children with you while your workout.
Will there be a Group Exercise Program? Yes, but not immediately. We will be surveying members for feedback on the right classes to offer. Classes are expected to start sometime in July.
How do I sign up to use the fitness center?
The enrollment process begins online via the fitness center member management site, Motivation: https://lifetechnologies.motivation.cc/Default.aspx
First, click on the “Create Account” link on the left side of the page. Complete the short health history questionnaire, informed consent/release of liability waiver and payroll deduction forms. Keep in mind: Member privacy and confidentiality is important to MediFit and Life Technologies. Member records will remain confidential and accessible only to staff according to privacy guidelines. Plus: A copy of our Privacy Practices will be posted for your review.
Once you have completed the online enrollment, you will receive an automatically generated email from confirming your user name and password you created.
Next steps are:
If you are an employee signing up as an individual,
·  Stop by the fitness center to complete your enrollment process
·  Receive your membership sticker that should be placed on your employee ID badge
·  Tour the facility, if you haven’t done so already.
·  You’re ready to start using the fitness center!
If you are an employee sign up with your spouse or domestic partner,
·  The spouse creates their own account in Motivation: https://lifetechnologies.motivation.cc/Default.aspx. When completing the online enrollment process, spouses must select “Spouse/Domestic Partner” in the Division category on the first enrollment page.
·  Once an account is created, the Fit for Life staff will notify security that the spouse/domestic partner has completed the online enrollment.
·  The employee and spouse will be notified by the Fit for Life staff that they may go to the building 180 receptionist to have the spouse’s photo taken for their badge.
·  Once the Fit for Life staff receives the spouse’s badge onsite, they will email the employee to let them know it’s ready for pick up. (PLEASE NOTE: it may take up to 4 days for the security team in Carlsbad to create and ship the spouse’s badge back to the fitness center).
·  Both employee and the spouse will then stop by Fit for Life to complete the registration process. During this time you will receive your membership sticker that should be placed on your employee/associate ID badge. Tour the facility, if you haven’t done so already.
·  The Fit for Life staff will also show spouses/domestic partners the entry/exit door they may use to access the fitness center.
Will the results of the online Wellness Assessment I completed during enrollment be kept confidential?
Yes. All results are considered confidential medical information, and your personal health results will not be shared with any Life Technologies employees. MediFit is held to strict privacy and security laws, as indicated in the Consent Form that is completed during the online enrollment process.
How much will it cost to be a member?
Membership for the Oyster Point fitness center is $5 per pay period and if you chose to sign up your spouse or domestic partner as a member, the cost is $10 a pay period. Costs will be deducted from your paycheck.
Do I have to pay extra to participate in a group exercise class?
No, your membership fee allows you to participate in any group exercise class offered by the fitness center.
Do I need to wear my ID badge while exercising?
ID badges do not need to be worn inside the fitness center, but they are required to enter the facility. You will need to swipe your badge on the computer outside of the fitness center to track usage and again to enter the fitness center.
Can I have my personal trainer come in and work with me at the fitness center? Or as an employee, can I instruct a class?
For your safety, only individuals specifically approved and designated as personal trainers by MediFit may provide personal training services at the fitness center. If you know an individual that is interested in providing services through the fitness center, please ask them to contact the fitness center staff for information on becoming a MediFit team member.
Are there locker rooms?
Men’s and women’s locker rooms are located at the end of the hallway by the fitness center rooms. Access is available only through the building entrances. Lockers are available for day use only. Showers are supplied with shampoo, conditioner and body soap. Towels and hairdryers are also available. Members should bring their own personal amenities.
Can I leave my workout clothes in a locker overnight?
No, due to the limited number of lockers, a day use policy is enforced. Lockers are to be used while you are exercising only. You may not drop off or leave your items in the lockers for pick up or use later in the day. Security will remove all contents left in the Fitness Center locker rooms. The fitness center staff is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
If I forget my items in a locker, what happens to them?
Staff and security clear all items from lockers on a nightly basis. All items will be placed in a bag, labeled with the date, locker number and contents, and held in Lost and Found at the Reception desk in the lobby. Items that have not been claimed after 30 days will be donated or discarded.
How do I claim lost items?
Please stop by the fitness center to speak with a staff member during staffed hours.
May I bring in my own personal exercise equipment?
For liability reasons, personal exercise equipment may not be used in the fitness center.
Do I need to bring a lock?
Yes, it is your responsibility to lock up your personal belongings. You must remove lockers keys to the fitness center staff at the end of your workout.
