New to Swim Team?
We’re so glad you have joined our team! We know the first year can be a bit overwhelming. We hope this informational booklet answers a lot of your questions. Feel free to contact any of the above with further questions. Or ask any of the parents hanging out at practice. Remember, it was all new to us at one time too!
RMEA Riptides - Important Dates and Times
Morning / Afternoon
Guppies / 10:00-10:30 AM / 4:00-4:30 PM
10 and Under / 8:00-8:45 AM / 4:30-5:15 PM
11 and Up / 8:45-10:00 AM / 5:15-6:15 PM
· Morning Practices begins after school is out (Monday, June 8th)
· No Afternoon Practices on Meet Days
Swim Team Meet ScheduleJune 4th / Home vs. Woody Creek / All meets begin at 6:00 PM!
§ Coaches will let swimmers know what time to arrive for warm-ups prior to the meet (usually 4:30 or 5:00)
§ First half volunteers should arrive by 5:30 PM.
§ Send an email to the coaches ASAP for any meets you will not be attending.

Swimmers ranked 17-40 in the county for each event qualify.
July 19th / Classics at Westside Aquatics
Usually starts at 1:30 PM
Top 16 swimmers in the county for each event qualify.
/ The most important meet of the year is DIVISIONALS!
All SWIMMERS (except guppies) should plan to swim divisionals! It is a fun-filled day and we need EVERY swimmer! Let’s win it again!!
The week leading up to Divisionals, there will be lots of fun events!
It’s a highly spirited week and you will not want to miss it!
Pasta Pump-up will be held on Friday, July 10th.
Includes lots of pasta, car painting, and other SURPRISES!
Swim Team Banquet will be held the evening of Sunday, July 12th
Guppy Meet Schedule / § All guppy meets begin at 9AM
Parents will be needed at meets as timers and lane coordinators.
§ Also need parents to bring snacks for each meet.
§ Contact Julie Ward to volunteer to help our guppies!

Divisionals – July 11th 2009
** At Neely farm **
Important Notes:
v It is important that we have our entire team at Divisionals. Let’s get those splash points!!!
This is a really fun day for everyone, please reserve the date and plan on swimming divisionals!
v We will have a practice session at the Neely Farm pool (date/time TBA). It is important that all swimmers attend this practice to get comfortable with dives and turns in this pool!
v Pasta Pump-up will be held on Friday, July 10th (time TBA) at the clubhouse. Plan on staying afterwards to decorate cars!
v On the morning of divisionals, warm-ups begin as early as 7 AM. We will plan on meeting at the clubhouse (time TBA) and having our traditional caravan to divisionals. Plan on going in the caravan it is a fun way to get the team spirit going!
v Volunteer timers and stroke/turn judges will be assigned to work divisionals as needed. Please help if called upon!
v Heat sheet ads will be sold the week before divisionals. There are also contests for the heat sheet cover. The kids may submit an 8 ½ x 11 hand-drawn design. Kids start thinking of ideas and start drawing!
v Divisional meets are occurring all over the county on this day. The results from all divisionals are compiled to rank the swimmers county-wide. The top 16 in each event qualify for Classics to be held on Sunday, July 20th at Westside Aquatic Center. Qualifiers 17-40 in each event go to Championships to be held on Saturday, July 19th at Westside Aquatic Center.
