This week in ELA, students will:

  • Take the NWEA MAP test for ELA on Monday (no library)
  • Participate in a "Read Around" on Tuesday in order to share their flash fiction stories.
  • Have a Goal Work Day on Wednesday where students will work on various skills to get ready for the MSTEP next week (Tuesday, May 8).
  • Begin a Shakespeare unit on Thursday and Friday. Students will work on high-level vocabulary, reading with expression, and deciphering plot. The read-aloudswe have for Shakespeare are grade-level adaptations, but have still, in the past, proved difficult to understand.

At home, please encourage your student to read! Students should be reading the 4th book of the quarter, due on May 9. Overall, I am incredibly impressed with the number of books read by the grade this year!
