VILLA MONTEREY UNIT 5/5A NEWS

FROM THE PRESIDENT

It's so nice and warm.....maybe a little too warm, but it comes with being a full-fledged Arizonan. Even with the warm morning we had a wonderful turn out for our monthly Board Meeting. Thank you for your attendance and input.

We have seen an end to the Southwest Gas Project. It's okay to remove the flags and colored markers from your lawn areas. Some of you are still working with claims adjustors for losses suffered when electrical power was compromised. Please keep the Board informed of your progress in settling your claims. The Board is also aware that some of the slurry sealed streets are looking quite inconsistent and we have a Board member (Craig Sjodin) working with the City of Scottsdale to correct problems. We'll keep you informed as we get new information.

On July 1st the common area palm trees will get their annual haircut. The company doing the work is charging $45 per tree and will do individual home/trees for the same price. You will need to contact Shawn Weese, 602-697-2697, The Tree Pruning Specialists LLC if you want your own trees trimmed on your property. You may also contact: George Lopez 602-319-0063 or Fred Bond 480-874-4138 or cell phone number 512-656-0034.

A big thank you to Terry and Michael Askew for the BBQ grill given to the association. Also, thanks for the solar powered lights at the gateway from 78th Street and cleaning/painting in the common walkway. Its neighbors like the Askews that make VM 5-5A so wonderful a place to live. Thanks again to all our volunteers. We appreciate your hard work and thoughtfulness.

The Board continues to work on the restated CCRs and is planning an informational meeting for all members on Saturday, December 6th. We hope to have a good turnout and see most of our winter residents back. Watch for more specific information on this important meeting. Our attorney, Adrianne Speas, will be present to answer any and all questions.

Except for a weekend escape in June and one at the end of August.....I will be here all summer. So, let me know by phone or email if you need information or have something to share with the Board.

Keep cool!!!!

NOTICE OF POTENTIAL COMPENSATION TO SRP SHAREHOLDERS SERVED ELECTICITY BY APS

You may or may not be aware, but we are Salt River Valley Water User’s Association Shareholders but are in one of several small “islands” receiving electricity from APS. As such, each household may be entitled to compensation for a portion of the amount paid to APS for electricity during 2013. BUT you must make application no later than August 5, 2014. SRP will make the determination of eligibility and any compensation to which you may be entitled.

You can get more detailed information and an application form from SRP by calling 602-236-8888 or you can contact Elton or Kathy, who have made extra copies of the instructions and application form, at 480-951-3112.

POOL/PARK

Almost all of the Association dues we pay go toward making our Pool/Park/Clubhouse an exclusive and wonderful experience for us. Lately we have been having some problems with nonmember individuals coming in and using/misusing our facilities.

We need everyone’s help in stopping these intrusions. As you all know, all Association members are welcome to use our facilities as well as their legitimate guests. Our rules regarding guests are simply that you either accompany them to the pool/park or you obtain a guest pass for them. Pool passes are simple to obtain. All you need to do is contact any Board Member, provide basic information regarding your guest(s) and then give the pass to your guest(s). They need to conspicuously display the permit while at our pool/park.

This is necessary for everyone’s protection. Should there be an unfortunate accident in the pool area, we need to know who was there and who to contact.

Please, if you are at the pool/park area and see anyone you do not recognize, introduce yourself and ask them to show you their pass. If they do not have one, ask them who they are visiting and advise them that they need to have their host get them a pass.

If there is any difficulty, immediately advise any Board Member.
