Welcome to the Just Flyball Tournament
hosted by Flash Point
August 2 & 3, 2014
We are looking forward to a great weekend. There are 39 teams entered and 2 rings. We’ve increased the heats with the smaller number of teams but still ask for help in being efficient so we can keep to reasonable days. Please check the links on our web site http://flyballdogs.com/flashpoint/ for the seed chart, racing schedule, hotel and emergency veterinary and human hospital information.
Thanks to our judges Scott Chamberlain, Denise Lacey, and Jim Spitznas for agreeing to come judge! A huge thank you to Joe from Clean Break for running a table and to Blue Ridge Blast for equipment.
Directions to the Frederick Indoor Sports Center
Directions are on FISC’s web site at http://www.frederickindoor.com/about/hours-and-directions/
Racing Schedule, Format, and Scoring
The seeding, format for each division, and racing schedule are posted on our website. We will be running the one schedule for both rings format. There are breaks built in to the schedule to accommodate the clubs that are running 3-4 teams. We know there will be some bits of down time throughout the days too because of the number of teams/races so be cognizant of this. We will still try to move things along. Races posted will be the on deck races. We are planning on using Andy McBride’s http://flyballgeek.com for electronic devices. FISC does have free WiFi for everyone with the password posted on the front desk.
Scoring for all divisions will be one point for each heat won and two points for winning the race. A half point will be awarded for any tied heats and one point for any tied races. Warm-ups both days will be 90 seconds for each team’s first race, then 60 seconds for the rest of the day. The timing will start when both boxes are in the ring as long as people remain efficient.
Placement in case of ties will be decided based on the following criteria:
1. Fastest time in the round robin(s) (including combined divisions)
2. Fastest time head to head
3. Win/loss record of heats head to head
If you are going to bring your own C2 forms already filled out, please make sure they are double sided and have the lanes (left or right) marked on them.
** Box and Line judges needed ** $$ prizes!
Please help out with line and box judging. We will be drawing one $50 winner at the end of each day. Host club members are not eligible to win so please feel free to kick us out of the seat if you see one of us sitting in one of those chairs. We are very short staffed so will need lots of help here to keep things moving.
Awards
We have ribbons for first through third place in each division as well as title ribbons. Due to financial constraints this time around, placement ribbons will be flat ribbons and we will not have extra prizes to go with them. We are keeping on with our nice title ribbons!
Saturday Night Single Dog Racing
We will be hosting Single Dog Racing and Turf time Saturday evening. Sign-ups will begin at 3 P.M. with SDR/turf time starting at the conclusion of racing and ending by 8 P.M. We will be offering the usual head-to-head racing -- $5.00 for 3 timed heats including 1 warm-up, as well as practice ring time -- $5.00 for 5 minutes. We do have permission to use the lights for this.
Raffle
We are going to have an awesome raffle that will include a Kindle Fire and a Ryobi Fan, charger and battery. Winning tickets will be drawn Sunday.
Site, Food and Crating Information – Important info, please read
Crating will be available indoors in the entire field to the left of the entrance. The field will already be covered with tarp so you are not required to use your own.
The building management is very strict about not bringing in outside food. Dog treats are fine of course. There is a café on site that also serves Starbucks. They will be there as long as we are on Saturday. The food is very good and varied but takes a little bit as it’s all prepared to order so plan accordingly. You can see the menu here http://www.frederickindoor.com/offers/replaycafe/
You can print out 10% off coupons for yourselves here on the first page (recommend to do that!) https://media.frederickindoor.com/uploads/DogShow_OnlineKit_Final.pdf
There is parking for RV’s and campers on-site overnight. No hook ups are available. You may come in on Friday for parking only.
Please see the parking map – this is borrowed from agility trials. Do NOT park in the spaces marked for FISC tenants. The other spaces in that section will be reserved for handicapped parking. The spots marked ‘xxx’ for trial secretaries etc.. will be for the judges and the host club. The area marked for exhibitors crating from their cars is open to all flyball exhibitors. The lower lot marked RV and overflow is open to all RV and campers and anyone that wants to park there. You may park on the road, many do for trials at this site. Do NOT park in the businesses across the road.
Unfortunately the venue prohibits the use of baby pools/hoses for dogs so we will unable to be able to provide that this year.
