January 2017 Report for Second Vice President Jim Adkins, MDSSAR

The Second Vice-President shall be the chairman of the semiannual meeting and shall coordinate publicity and public relations matters, including submission of articles and photos to the SAR National Magazine, and will serve as the liaison for and visit the following chapters during his term – Sgt Lawrence Everhart, Gen. William Smallwood, Christian Ardinger, Westminster, and Little Meadows. The Vice-Presidents shall also perform such additional duties as requested by the President. – Bylaws, Article III (Duties of Officers): Vice Presidents

Activities:

Attended the Annual Meeting at Havre de Grace on April 16th.

Made arrangements for the June BOM meeting to be held at Camp Fretterd on June 4th.

Attended a DAR Chapter meeting where Vietnam Veterans were honored on May 8th.

Attended a MD 400 Fund Board of Trustees meeting on May 18th.

Attended the Captain John Smoot Chapter meeting on May 21st.

Coordinated a date for the semiannual meeting to be held on October 22nd with the Society President.

Presented the SAR Outstanding Citizenship Award to a student at Crisfield High School on May 25th.

Attended the BOM at Camp Fretterd on June 4th.

Attended the induction ceremony of three generations of the Owings family into the SAR at the State House on 21 June.

Attended the Westminster Chapter picnic on June 25th.

Attended the SAR National Conference in Boston from 8-13 July.

Attended the SAR Mid Atlantic States Association meeting in Albany from 12-14 August.

Participated in the SAR trip to Battle of Brooklyn commemoration on August 20th.

Attended the Washington Immortals lecture by author Patrick O'Donnell at the State House on August 22nd.

Attended the Little Meadows Chapter luncheon meeting in Garrett County on September 10th.

Participated in State SAR conference call on September 27th.

Developed a program to enhance contributions and recognition of donors to the MD 400 fund.

Developed the plan and program for the semiannual meeting to be held in Chestertown on October 22nd.

Attended Battle of Kedges Straits tour on October 20th with the Captain John Smoot Chapter.

Hosted semiannual meeting in Chestertown on October 22nd.

Attended John Paul Jones Chapter Christmas Party in Crownsville on December 4th.

Attended the Little Meadows Chapter luncheon meeting in Garrett County on December 10th.

Attended Patriots' Ball on December 17th.
