Employer Description: This independently owned hotel has been operated by the same family for more than 30 years. It has 166 oceanfront rooms with private balconies. All rooms are non-smoking and provide refrigerators, coffee makers and complimentary wireless service. The hotel offers top-of-the-line service to its guests, providing conference and meeting facilities, game room, indoor and outdoor pools, handicap accommodations, group tour assistance and packages.

Housekeepers, $8.25 per hour, 35 hours/week minimum, $12.38/hour overtime.
Job Description: Clean and service guest rooms, clean bathrooms, clean windows, vacuum, sweep floors, mop, change bed linens, dust, remove dirty linens, remove trash, clean common areas, wash and fold laundry. IMPORTANT: You will be cleaning an average of 12 rooms per day. You must be strong enough to lift mattresses to tuck in linens. The use of chemical cleaning products is required. You may be asked to assist in other areas at your employer’s request so please be flexible.
English Requirement: Intermediate. English will still be a fundamental part of the job. Applicants are encouraged to practice speaking/comprehension skills before arriving.
Work Dates: Start 6/1/14 - 6/21/14 End 9/14/15 – 9/31/14
Hiring Preferences: 11 females/4 males. Friends groups and couples welcome.
Uniform: Uniforms are purchased by the employee for $25, including two shirts and two pants. Sneakers or tennis shoes are recommended to wear while working.
Housing: Most student housing options are located in the resort area, within walking or biking distance of each other. Best Western Plus does not provide housing directly but InterExchange will help pre-arrange housing for J1 students. The average cost is $95 per week with a $150 reservation deposit. Most students bike to and from work and shopping areas. A public transportation system is also available – it runs within the resort area (buses and trolleys) and also connects to many nearby cities and cultural attractions.
Area Description: Best Western Plus is located at the oceanfront, where there are miles of white sandy beaches, sports and outdoor recreation facilities, amusement parks, retail shopping, cultural events, music festivals and family-oriented activities all spring and summer long. In addition, the Virginia Beach International Student Outreach Program is a great resource for J1 students. With a goal of making life in Virginia Beach as safe, happy, and fun as possible for J1 students, this community-based group plans and coordinates fun events and cultural activities for international students throughout the spring and summer months.
