LAUNCH OF THE SSS SCHOLARSHIP
The Serangoon Alumni (‘SA’) and the School Advisory Committee (‘SAC’) forSerangoon Secondary School (‘SSS’ or ‘the School’), also formerly known as Serangoon English School (‘SES), togetherwith the School are launching theSSS Scholarship Scheme on 29 January 2010.
The aim of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to graduating students of the School, who are eligible to pursue further studies in the JCs or Polytechnics. The Scholarship shall be awarded based on merit and subject to the recommendation of the School and to be decided jointly by the representatives from the SA, SAC and the School.
Each student, who chooses to study in a JC will get $1,000.00 annually for two years to offset the school fees, books and other miscellaneous expenses. The recipient of an award for study in a Polytechnic will get $1,500.00 annually for three years to offset tuition fees and other miscellaneous expenses.
Application for the SSS Scholarship is open to graduating students of SSS, who have achieved good academic results in the GCE “O” Level Examination and have been active in co-curricular activities.
To kick-start the Scholarship Scheme and to ensure its sustainability, the School would like to seek donations from Alumni Members, former students, and well-wishers.
All donations to the Fund will be tax-exempt. To make a donation, please complete the Donation Form (Annex A), and attach it to your crossed cheque, made payable to “SerangoonSecondary School”. Donors are requested to write the description, “Project 481005 - SSS Scholarship” on the reverse side of the cheques.
