Here is a biography I did on William Ellingsworth Jr. I wish to thank each and every person who gave your work to this, especially Sharan Lesmeister, for her work on John Fletcher Ellingsworth's family, and Sherry Ellingsworth for her contribution on Charles Miles Ellingsworth's clan. Where applicable, I left out the dates of the living.

The numbers in parenthesis (1-3) denote the relationships, from William Ellingsworth Sr. Example, 1 = William Sr, the 3 = William Jr, as he was the 3rd child born to William Sr. (1-3-4) would be William Sr, William Jr, and the 4th child of William Jr, John Fletcher Ellingsworth. In other words, each number represents the parent for that generation, the last number in the sequence, being that child's position in his family. The symbol > following the name of a child, indicates that person's descendants.

(1) WILLIAM ELLINGSWORTH Sr.

William Sr. may have been the son of Steven and Sarah (Virdon) Ellingsworth. The reason's for believing this are that Steven was in the Butler Co Ohio area the same time frame (1810) that William Sr. was to have been born. According to the 1860 Carroll Co Arkansas census, William was born in Ohio, 1809/10. The symbol > denotes a marriage with children.

(1-3) WILLIAM ELLINGSWORTH Jr.

William Ellingsworth Jr married the sister of his brother Robert's wife, Anna. William's lovely bride was Sarah Jane Durham, born in 1842 or 43, and was the sister to Robert's wife, Anna. Sarah worked for a neighboring family as a domestic servant in the P.H.D. Jackson family in the early 1860's before marrying William, probably in 1861 as that is when their first child was born. They moved to Greene County Mo, Campell Township in Springfield between 1863 and 1867, this is when their first MO child was to be born. William also followed his older brother's footsteps in another fashion, he served his country in the Civil war. He joined and was discharged the same dates as Robert, but they may have been in different companys of the same cavalry division. One must asume that their politics and beliefs led them to leave Arkansas as they were from Yankee states origanally, but William moved back to Arkansas.

He left his wife of 30+ years,(around 3 Apr 1898, according to Sarah's application for William's pension) for some reason, and lived briefly in Lawrence Co, Mo. before moving back to Arkansas, where he re-files for his veteran's pension. He passes away 12 Feb 1915, according to pension records. He also had listed as former places of residence, Olley IL, Holden MO, Ozark MO, Marionville MO, Springfield MO, Warrensburg MO, Aurora MO, Highlandville MO, and Keener AR. His gravesite is at Bergman, outside of Lead Hill and it is marked with a CW veteran marker, but the original site was moved due to the building of a lake. Sarah lived out the remainder of her life in Christian County, living with son Phillip Marion. She passes away at age 84, on March 4, burial site unknown at this time.
