European Championship 2016 in France: 1:0 for SKIDATA

Salzburg, 6. June 2016. With the equipping of four European championship stadiums in France, access expert SKIDATA scores the first goal for Austria. In total, over 630,000 fans will pass through the access technology from Salzburg during 17 games.

The access solutions from Salzburg are found in four of the ten stadiums hosting games of the European Championship 2016 in France: Parc de Princes in Paris with 45,000 seats (5 games), Stadium de Toulouse in Toulouse with 33,000 seats (4 games), Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens with 35,000 seats (4 games), Stade de Nice in Nice with 35,000 seats (4 games). A total of 637,000 fans will reach their seats using access provided by SKIDATA in 17 of the 51 EM matches.

Hugo Rohner, CEO of SKIDATA AG: "We are pleased again this year to be involved in this major soccer event. Since the European/World Championships in 2006/2008, SKIDATA is involved in every European soccer championship and World Cup and the organizers trust in our solution, in particular with regards to its flexibility, security against ticket abuse and speed. A SKIDATA turnstile can allow the access of over 2,000 people per hour. This means that a stadium like Parc de Prince with its 124 entry points could theoretically be filled in less than a quarter of an hour."

At present, the SKIDATA products are in use in more than 200 stadiums worldwide. The stadiums for the European Championship 2016 have been equipped for some time with the access technology from Salzburg. In addition to access readers and mobile handheld devices providing safe, comfortable and quick entry, the organizers can also make use of an automated and centralized reporting capability.

To ensure smooth operation, all stadiums used during the European championship will be centrally monitored in Paris - including the SKIDATA stadiums. In addition, until the end of the championship SKIDATA will offer a full service and will support the organizers with the SKIDATA Expert Service Center around the clock. The SKIDATA readers are specifically configured to display the logos and messages of the event during the championship.

Fan Loyalty as a Driver for Success

For a few years already, SKIDATA has been successfully offering a fan loyalty platform for sports clubs in America. Professional sports teams such as the Seattle Sounders FC (soccer), the San Francisco 49ers (American football) and the Los Angeles Kings (ice hockey) already benefit from this product. Now this fan platform, which includes a loyalty program, is also available in Europe. The first European customers have already been acquired.

The SKIDATA fan platform allows sports clubs to come into intensive contact with their fans in addition to the games, to provide them with additional information about the club and the players, to announce promotions and to offer merchandise. Fans can accumulate points for all interactions, whether in reading club news online on the website or going to a game.

The loyalty points earned can be redeemed for services that are selected by the operators. In this way, fans can enjoy sports club offerings such as collect items or products that cannot be bought with money: from a ‘Meet & Greet‘ with the team, experiencing a game in box seats, or a special guided tour of the park.

Hugo Rohner, speaking about the loyalty platform: "The sports clubs use the platform to get closer to their fans, to offer the fans more, and to motivate them through targeted promotions to identify with the club even more strongly, and to support it."

SKIDATA has 1,200 employees, 25 subsidiaries and 3 joint ventures and is represented in over 95 countries. In 2015 the Salzburg company generated a record turnover of 261 million euros, which represents a growth of 37%. To continue its growth, SKIDATA is constantly looking for new employees in all divisions including development, customer service, and administration. We also welcome individuals returning to the workforce or just starting out in their careers. Interesting work in an international environment can be expected. Job vacancies are regularly posted on our website at www.skidata.com.
