ASSISTANT FIRE MARSHALFIRE DEPARTMENT

The Assistant Fire Marshal is responsible for conducting City of Alvin fire investigations to determine the origin and cause. This position is also responsible for conducting fire investigations to determine the origin and cause. Responsible for conducting fire inspections for the purpose of correcting potentially hazardous situations, and to comply with established regulatory practices. Initiates and participates in various fire prevention programs for the purpose of providing education concerning principles and techniques for preventing fires and acting in fire situations. Texas Commission on Fire Protection – Arson and Fire Investigator Certification preferred. Certified Police Officer preferred; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Valid state driver’s license.

SALARY RANGE: $30,325 – 36,242

MAINTENANCE WORKERSTREET DIVISION

Operates light to medium equipment used in grounds keeping of the City’s water well and lift station easements and property. Other duties as assigned.

SALARY: $10.40/$21,639

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR ISTREET DIVISION

Operates heavy equipment and various machinery in the performance of storm drain cleaning and maintenance, right-of-way construction and maintenance, major and minor street repairs, street and driveway paving, street overlay, street sign maintenance, the beautification and maintenance of City public areas, a street sweeping, and other street maintenance functions. Must possess a valid Class “B” CDL state driver’s license. H.S. diploma or GED.

SALARY: $11.93/$24,810

COMMUNICATION OFFICERPOLICE DEPARTMENT

Receives records and assigns incoming calls to the appropriate Police Department personnel. Monitors department radio communication and provides information and assistance as needed; greets and assists department visitors. Receives and forwards non-emergency and emergency phone calls for police, fire and EMS city services and other agencies. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and perform duties according to detailed instructions with strict adherence to prescribed standards and procedures. H.S. diploma or GED.

SALARY: $13.63/$28,341

Responsible for enforcement of rules and regulations at the Bob S. Owen and Harby Junior High pools. Maintain pool, safety of swimmers, and collection of fees. Must have current Red Cross certification for advanced lifesaving, first aid and CPR or equivalent other certification. Minimum age 16.

SALARY Range $7.50 - $8.00
