A Hundred Years of Service: The Alpha Kappa Alpha Story
Traveling exhibition sponsored by the National AKA Society in celebration of the organization's 100 Anniversary. This major exhibition will feature unique selection of artifacts and memorabilia from 1908 to present day. Highlights include replica of the dorm room at Howard University, where the society started a nd the astronaut suit of Mae Jamison, one of the first African-American women in space.
Sisters of the Yam: Friends & Family Treasures"
This exhibition features various quilts and other fabric objects from the personal collections of various members of the Sisters of the Yam, an African American Quilters Guild based in Richmond. The guild sisters have chosen to share home crafted items that have meaning in their lives.
