September / Election on School Councillors
Each class will participate in nominating, and selecting their class school council representatives. Pupils wishing to be elected will explain their reasons for wanting to represent their class and then children will select their councillors by voting.

September / Selection of Buddies and Road Safety Officers
Pupils in Year 5 will complete application forms to be considered for selection as Playground Buddies to help support their peers at playtimes, while Year 6 pupils will apply for the role of Junior Road Safety Officers. Both representatives will present assemblies and organise activities throughout the year to remind children about safe behaviour while out and about in the local area.

20th September / Beverley Races
Our Year 6 children will visit Beverley Racecourse and develop the mathematical skills in a practical setting. They will learn about measures through activities relating to jockeys and around the enclosure. / Individual Liberty
29th September / MacMillan Coffee Morning
Our Reception and Year 1 children will plan and host fundraising activities for the parents to raise money for charity.

4th October / Pizza Express & St. Mary’s
Our Year 6 children will spend the morning at Pizza Express, learning about a working kitchen and Health and Safety issues followed by creating their own Pizza. They will then visit St. Mary’s Church and learn about a different Church of England place of worship, completing a comparative study to our church. / Individual Liberty & Mutual Respect
5th October / Flamborough – Be a Marine Biologist
Our Year 5 children will visit Flamborough and work alongside Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Representatives, learning about different marine life found on our coastline and how humans can impact on their habitats.

13thOctober / Harvest Festival
Our whole school will collect food donations to make up harvest parcels to be delivered by our Y6 children to pensioners in the local community.

25th October / NSPCC Assemblies and Workshops
Children will participate in assemblies delivered by the NSPCC about keeping themselves safe and being able to recognise and speak out when people are approaching them in an inappropriate manner. Year 5 and Year 6 children will also take part in workshops during the day.

10thNovember / Armistice Day/Remembrance
The whole school will make a poppy, which they will lay during a whole school collective worship service. The whole school will participate during this service in a moment of reflective silence.

17th November / Children in Need
Our Y6 children will plan and host fundraising activities for the whole school to raise money for charity. Children will learn about the work of the charity and how their donations can help others.

WB 20thNovember / Anti-bullying and Road safety week
The school councillors, buddies and our Learning Mentor will lead events, and work with the local PCSO, across the school to raise awareness of how to address and prevent bullying issues. In addition, our road safety officers and Learning Mentor will deliver messages to all pupils on how to stay safe near roads.

Thursday 23rd November / Sierra Leone Learning Afternoon
Pupils will take place in an afternoon of learning about life in Sierra Leone. Children will take part in comparison activities between their lives and those of children in Sierra Leone.

  • Year 3 & 4 will learn about education and school
  • Year 5 & 6 will learn about sport and games
Children will then write letters to our link school about their lives in Hull. / Tolerance of differences and Mutual Respect
Friday 24th November / Our Academy Exchange Day
Children will have the opportunity to exchange school settings, meet and work with pupils from our link academy. They will share in activities that explore the different cultures and communities that they come from.

Friday Mornings
12th Jan. – 9th March / KCOM – Run with it Programme
Children in Year 5 will attend a weekly session at the KCOM stadium to develop their maths skills for a real purpose – measuring the pitch and using the team shops for a range of activities.

Wednesday 31st January / Environmental Conference
Representatives from Year 5 will attend the conference with pupils from other schools in the city. They will consider the impact humans are having on the environment and look at the future consequences of current deforestation of the Rainforests. Through role play children will examine the opinions of different parties involved in deforestation and also consider strategies that will help improve the state of the environment. / Individual Liberty and Mutual Respect
Thursday 8th February / Hull & East Riding Museum Visit
Children in Year 3 will visit the museum to learn about life during Roman times and handle Roman artefacts, giving them a chance to bring their classroom learning to life.

Tuesday 20th February / E-Safety Sessions
Children will take part in sessions delivered by an E-Safety ambassador to learn how to keep themselves safe while using technology and mobile devices. Children will also be given the chance to share this learning with their parents. / Individual Liberty & Rule of Law
Wednesday 21st February / Shocking Electricity – Museum Visit
Year 4 children will take part in a museum visit to participate in workshops that will develop their learning on electricity.

21st & 22nd June / Residential Visit
Year 5 & 6 pupils will have the opportunity to join the residential visit to ‘Another World’ outdoor activity centre to try a range of new pursuits and then stay overnight at a residential centre near Leeds. They will then enjoy activities at the X-scape venue – including sledging. / Individual Liberty and Mutual Respect
