Chapter 1 The structure and function of human skin
Objective:
1. To master the definition of melanocyte, the Langerhan’s cell and the basement membrane zone.
2. To master the layers of epidermis.
3. To grasp main functions of skin.
4. To understand the histological structures of dermis, subcutis and epidermal appendages.
Chapter 2 Diagnosis of Skin Disease
Objective:
1. To master the primary lesions of skin diseases: macule, papule, vesicle, pustule, nodule, wheal & cyst .
2. To master the secondary lesions of skin diseases: scale, crust, maceration, erosion, ulcer, scratching markers, fissure, scar, atrophy & lichenification.
3. To grasp the common symptoms of skin diseases: itchy, pain and paralysation.
4. To understand the steps to make a diagnosis of skin diseases.
Chapter 3 Treatment of skin diseases
Objective:
1. To master the mechanism, indication, dosage and side effects of antihistamines and corticosteroids.
2. To master the classification, bases, function, application of topical medicine, esp. the principles for topical agent usage.
3. To grasp the common physical therapies of skin diseases, esp. ultraviolet therapy and laser.
4. To understand the indication, dosage and side effects of antibiotics, antifungal drugs, retinoids and immunosuppressants.
5. To understand the use of dermatological therapy.
Chapter 4 Fungal diseases
Objective:
1. To master the definition, clinical presentation and treatment of dermatophytosis.
2. To grasp the definition, clinical presentations and treatment of candidiasis infection.
3. To grasp the clinical presentation and treatment of pityrosporum infection: pityriasis versicolor, pityrosporum folliculitis.
4. To be familiar with the clinical presentation, pathological changes and treatment of sporotrichosis.
Chapter 5 Common viral diseases of skin
Objective:
1. To master the pathogen, clinical manifestations and treatment of varicella and herpes zoster.
2. To grasp the pathogen, clinical manifestations and treatment of herpes simplex.
3. To grasp the pathogen, clinical manifestations and treatment of warts.
Chapter 6 Scabies
Objective:
1. To master the definition, clinical presentation and treatment of scabies.
2. To grasp the differential diagnosis of scabies.

Chapter 8 Contact dermatitis
Objective:
1. To master the classification of contact dermatitis according to the mechanism.
