JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: IT Support Technician – Across the Academy
Accountable to:The Deputy Principal via Network IT Manager
Job Purpose: Support teaching staff in the delivery of IT across the curriculum
Maintain an effective and efficient Network
Maintain hardware and software
Undertake maintenance tasks as required by the IT Network Manager and the IT Senior Technician
Grade:E Point range 18 - 21
Hours:37 hours/week, All Year Round
Holiday Entitlement:25 days per annum
5 days accrued over a 5 year period to a maximum of 30 days plus 1 extra day after 10 years’ service
Job Tasks
- Undertake a range of tasks as requested by the IT Network Manager and the IT Senior Technician
- Deal with the day to day issues of maintaining a trouble free environment for effective use of IT equipment
- Assist staff and students to overcome any difficulties they may be experiencing e.g. printer failure, poor PC performance, etc
- Update the IT Network Manager/IT Senior Technician of any potential/serious issues or problems that need attention
- Implement and maintain security procedures designed to protect and maintain software and hardware
- Perform daily checks on all IT equipment to ensure it is in acceptable working order
- Participate in the scheduled testing and maintenance of all IT equipment
- Perform regular maintenance of Academies Information Management System when request by IT Network Manager/IT Senior Technician
- Carry out other duties as directed by the Senior Leadership Team
- Assist the IT Network Manager/IT Senior Technician in the deployment of computer hardware across the Academy
- Maintain computer peripheral equipment such as scanners, printers, smart boards, and projectors; ensure that these are prepared and ready to be used
- Liaise with external support agencies, e.g. Research Machines, SCOMIS to resolve faults
- Liaise with external agencies for the repair of equipment under warranty or maintenance contract
- Set up, maintain and remove user network accounts where appropriate
- Using the help-desk system to maintain up-to-date records for technical faults
- Attend meetings when required
- Undertake training as required to enable work to be carried out to a high standard
- Maintain an accurate inventory of the Academies IT equipment
- Other duties as directed
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with Subject Leaders regarding the implementation and use of IT in their areas. Monitor and plan the development of IT in these areas informing the IT Network Manager/IT Senior Technician and Deputy Principal of these activities at regular intervals
- Support the IT Network Manager and the IT Senior Technician with installing and maintaining specialised software in administrative departments
- Audit the use of IT across the Academies curriculum
- Manage the installation and distribution of the Academies laptops
- Perform annual maintenance on the Academies laptops
