Dickinson College Ski Club Constitution

I The organization shall be called the Dickinson College Ski Club.

II The Ski Club is an entity that exists for the benefit of all Dickinson students. As such, it is open to new ideas and suggestions on how to improve skiing at Dickinson.

III The Dickinson College Ski Club is an organization whose goal is to promote skiing as fitness and recreational activity that can be enjoyed for the rest of one’s life.

IV The Ski Club is open to all interested students of Dickinson College. All are welcome to join the Ski Club and participate in trips. In order for a returning member to be considered “active” he must have a current insurance waiver filed with the Club by December 1st of the current academic year. Consideration will be given to new members submitting waivers after December 1st for the purpose of participating in Ski Club trips.

1)  The Ski Club shall consist of all active members, from which four will be elected as officers. The four positions will be President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Communications Director.

a)  The President shall be responsible for coordinating and planning events. He/she shall call meetings to order and provide general direction for the Club.

b)  The Vice President shall be responsible for planning and coordinating the annual Ski Club trip. Planning and coordination includes but is not limited to obtaining transportation, lift tickets, rental equipment, as well as publicizing the trip. He/she will confer with the Treasurer on issues of funding. At his/her discretion, the Vice President may select a Trip Subcommittee to assist in planning.

c)  The Ski Club Treasurer will be in charge of and play an active role in all matters concerning Ski Club finances. He/she will keep accurate and up to date records, and is responsible for preparing the annual budget to be presented to the Student Senate. The Treasurer will collect monies for the annual trip. He/she will also assist the Club Advisor in the administration of the Night Club Card program, including collecting payment for the cards and distributing them to Club members.

d)  The Ski Club Communications Director will be responsible for all the records of the Club. This includes membership lists, insurance waivers, communication via the mailing list and list serve, and posting the van schedule on the website. He/she will also note meeting minutes.

e)  Officer elections will begin on or around March 31st via a secret ballot process. Nominations will be solicited via email and/or meeting. Once a candidate pool has been assembled, a ballot will be posted on the Club website. Ballots will be submitted to the Club Advisor via campus mail. In the event of a tie, a revote will be called for.

2)  All active members will meet at least once a semester, and as often as necessary during the ski season. The officers should begin meeting in October to plan the upcoming ski season, and shall meet regularly to conduct the affairs of the Club.

3)  Proposed amendments to the Constitution will be provided to the Club for inspection. After a two-week feedback period, the officers will vote on any proposals. Any active member is eligible to propose changes.
