Adding help files to Crystal Reports Version 8
Applies to: Installation of help files for Seagate Crystal Reports Version 8 for use with Met/Base version 7.X
Level of Difficulty: Moderate
Overview: A flaw in the Seagate installation process prevented help files from installing properly. This application provides the solution.
Problem:
The program that installs Seagate Crystal Reports version 8.0 that ships with MET/CAL version 7.X fails to install the help files.
There are two ways to check whether or not the help files have installed properly:
1) After installing Crystal Reports 8.0, when you open the Crystal Reports designer the 'Welcome' dialog appears. To open the help files, select the “Help” button.
2) Go to 'Help' menu and select 'Crystal Reports Help'
If you get the following error message, proceed with the help file installation instructions.
"Help has not been installed. Please run setup again"

Solution
Reinstalling Crystal Reports does not resolve this issue. How do you resolve this error message and get the Crystal Reports Help to work? To install Crystal Reports Help, use the following steps:
1. In the Control Panel, click the 'Add/Remove Programs' icon.
2. Select 'Crystal Reports' from the list of installed programs.
3. In Windows 2000/XP, click the 'Change' button. In Windows 9x/ME, click the 'Add/Remove' button.
4. In the 'Add/Remove Application box', click the 'Add/Remove' button.
5. In the 'Select Features' box, expand 'Crystal Reports Programs', and then expand 'Help'.
6. Click 'Compiled HTML' and select "Entire feature will be unavailable".
7. Click 'HTML' and select "Entire feature will be unavailable".
8. In the Crystal Report Setup dialog box, click 'Next' > 'Next' > 'Finish'.
9. Repeat steps 2 through 5.
10. Click the icon next to 'Compiled HTML Help (*.chm)' and select 'Entire Feature will be installed on local hard drive'.
11. Click 'Next'.
12. Click 'Next' again to run the install.
13. Close and re-open Crystal Reports.
The Crystal Reports Help should now appear correctly.
