Research Interests

My area of research is Nanoscience and Technology particularly Nanomaterials. Following is the detail of my focus points:

·  Synthesis: Chemical Vapour Deposition, Hydrothermal and Solvo-Thermal Techniques

·  Materials: Nitrides, Oxides, Chalcogenides, Metals, Binary or Ternary Semiconductor Materials. Magnetic ion doped Semiconductors (i.e DMS), etc

·  Nanoscale Novel Structures: Nanowires, nanotubes, nanobelts, nanosheets, nanodisks, nanoplatelets, nanospheres, dandelion and cactus-like nanostrcutres, spherical shaped core shell structures, quantum dots etc

·  Characterization Techniques: XRD, SEM, EDS, FESEM, TEM, HRTEM, XPS, Raman, SAED, FTIR etc.

·  Properties and Application: Optical Transmission/Absorption/Reflectance ;Photoluminescence (PL) emission; Field Emission, Magnetic, gas sensing and Hydrogen storage properties, Solar Cells, Photocatalysis, Heavy Metal Sensing/Detection, Drug Delivery, etc

Research Experience

·  Currently leading Nanobiotech Research Group (July-2012 to-Date) at National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) which is an affiliated department of Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Islamabad (PIEAS) and also an affiliated center of the International Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Italy.

·  Pursued PhD research for four years (June 2007 to August-2011) in the field of Nanomaterials at Beijing Institute of Technology, P. R. China under HEC Overseas Scholarship Scheme Phase-1. Prof. Dr. Chuanbao Cao supervised my PhD research work and the title of the thesis was “Synthesis, Characterization, Growth Mechanism and Properties of Zn & Cd based Nanomaterials with Novel Morphologies”. I have been able to publish about forty seven (47) international research articles as first as well as co-author in the reputed SCI journals with cumulative impact factor more than 110.

·  Carried out M. Phil research work (1998-2000) in the area of magnetic materials (Colossal Magnetoresistive Compounds i.e CMRs) at Physics Department, Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad under the kind supervision of Prof. Dr. S. K. Hasanain. The title of the thesis was “Resistive and Magnetic studies on Ca doped Lanthanum Manganates”. On the basis of good results obtained, I had published one research article in the internationally reputed journal “Physica Scripta” of IOP publishers.
