School Board Notes

2009-2010 January 4, 2010

The Tipp City Board of Education met on Monday, January 4, for its annual reorganization meeting at the Board of Education office. Board members present: Kate Johnsen, president pro tempore; Carla Frame, John Muldowney, Tom Merritt and member-elect Frank Maus.

New Members Take Oath

Mr. Tom Merritt administered the oath of office to Mrs. Carla Frame, who was reelected for another 4-year term on the Board of Education in November; and Mr. Frank Maus, who was newly elected in November. Congratulations and thank you to Mrs. Frame and Mr. Maus for their willingness to serve the students in Tipp City Schools as board members.

Election of Officers

The board elected officers for 2010 as follows:

·  President – Mrs. Kate Johnsen

·  Vice President – Mrs. Carla Frame

Meeting Frequency, Time and Place

The Board of Education will continue to hold its regular monthly meetings at 7 p.m. on the 4th Monday of each month. The next regular meeting will be at 7 p.m., Monday, January 25, at the board office, 90 S. Tippecanoe Drive.

Board members accepted the following committee assignments for 2010:

·  Miami Valley CTC – John Muldowney

·  Tipp Monroe Community Services – Tom Merritt

·  Tipp City Economic Development – Frank Maus

·  Student Achievement Liaison – Kate Johnsen

·  Superintendent's Advisory Committee – Carla Frame & Kate Johnsen

·  Business Advisory Council – Frank Maus & Tom Merritt

·  Tipp City Arts Council – Kate Johnsen

Resolution to Advance Taxes

The board approved a resolution for the Miami County Auditor to advance tax funds for the 2010 year to the Treasurer of Tipp City Schools. This is an annual resolution.

Other Actions

In other business, the board:

·  Approved continuing membership in the Ohio School Boards Association

·  Approved Tipp City Schools' participation in an Ohio Department of Education program to implement a Race to the Top grant project.

Records Commission Meeting

Prior to the Reorganization meeting, the district held a brief "Review of Public Records" policy 8310.
