Position: Head of TBAP Teaching School Alliance (TSA)

RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Head teacher TBAP West

JOB PURPOSE:

The Head of the TBAP TSA is a member of the TBAP extended leadership team.

The post holder will assume responsibility for leading the TBAP TSA. In all aspects of the post they must seek to actively promote the values and ethos of TBAP. The Head of TBAP TSA will lead the further development, implementation and evaluation of the TSA development plan. They will seek to identify opportunities for growth and continue to lead the TSA to national prominence.

As a member of the TBAP extended leadership team the post holder will lead on areas of TBAP working as they are identified.

MAIN DUTIES

1.  Teaching School Leadership

1.1. Identify opportunities and fully utilise the potential of the Teaching School to meet TBAP strategic and other priorities as identified in the TBAP development plan.

1.2. Develop the TBAP TSA vision and lead on the TSA marketing, publications and online presence

1.3. Lead on the TBAP TSA Twitter feed and other online communication channels.

1.4. Work across all TBAP TSA academies and partners to ensure full participation from all stakeholders

1.5. Monitor, evaluate and report on TBAP TSA progress to the Executive team and the TBAP Board.

1.6. Generate income for TBAP through the marketing of CPD and other resources

2.  CPD

2.1. Maintain strategic responsibility for all CPD delivered and accessed across TBAP.

2.2. Produce comprehensive evaluations and demonstrate impact on teaching and learning within TBAP academies

2.3. Develop a package of high quality CPD modules for delivery by TBAP SLE’s and others.

2.4. Market the CPD offer

2.5. Identify opportunities for innovation and new ways of learning through CPD

3.  Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

3.1. Act as lead contact for all ITT placements.

3.2. Develop a successful and effective ITT programme maximising trainee numbers and quality.

3.3. Develop partnerships with Higher Education Institutions.

3.4. Work with partners to develop the TBAP SCIT.

3.5. Establish the TBAP coaching model and support staff across TBAP

4.  School to School Support

4.1. Coordinate and maximise NLE, NLG, NSS and SLE deployments to support schools across the alliance and beyond

4.2. Develop the TBAP School Improvement Model

4.3. Further develop the TBAP Dynamic School Review programme

5.  Specialist Leaders of Education (SLE’s)

5.1. Work with TBAP Heads of School to identify potential SLEs.

5.2. Support SLEs in their application and subsequent deployments

5.3. Report on the success of SLE deployments.

5.4. Identify opportunities for professional development and accreditation of SLEs

6.  Research and Development

6.1. Identify opportunities for research and development across TBAP

6.2. Actively pursue partnerships with HEI and other providers to establish evidence based practice across TBAP

7.  Management and Administration

7.1. Line management and monitoring of staff as required

7.2. To lead on relevant areas of strategic planning and school self evaluation and review.

7.3. To take reasonable care for his/her own health and safety and any other person(s) who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions at work, in accordance with the Health & Safety legislation.

7.4. To promote the protection and safeguarding of learners through the active implementation of relevant school policies and procedures with particular reference to: child protection policy, safe touch policy, positive behaviour policy and the staff code of conduct, and to raise any concerns relating to such procedures which may be noted during the course of duty

7.5. You will be required to have a valid Enhanced DBS disclosure that will be checked every 3 years as per TBAP Trust policy.

7.6. As a member of the leadership team the post holder might be expected to take on other leadership duties not listed here but detailed in the teachers pay and conditions document

Selection Criteria

1. Qualifications and Experience
1.1 / Qualified teacher status
1.2 / Substantial leadership experience at senior leadership level in a learning environment
1.3 / A successful teaching career which includes teaching in an inner city school
1.4 / Evidence of recent continued professional development relevant to the post

1,6 / Experience of leading the development and delivery of CPD
Experience of leading and/or delivering initial teacher training and support
2. Knowledge

2.2 / A knowledge of Teaching Schools and their place within a self improving school led system
An up to date knowledge of national policy, curriculum developments and the statutory and legal framework within which a school and an AP Academy operate

2.4 / A knowledge of what constitutes outstanding teaching and an understanding of how to improve the quality of teaching and learning
