St Wilfrid’s Threshold,a group at St Wilfrid’s Catholic Church
are organising an ecumenical series of four
“Ecological speaker and discussion evenings” to be held
Wednesdays in March
at
HolyTrinityChurch Crypt at 7.30pm.
(£2-00 per evening).
Two of the speakers (Howard Wass and Judith Allinson) are Methodists.
7th: Beauty of the Earth
Dr Edward Echlin discusses this from a theological perspective. Michael Dunn shares more of his wonderful photographs. A selection of poems from Dawn Coull, RE and English teacher, in England and Malawi, and David McAndrew, who taught at the College of Ripon and York St John, entitled "Green Words Celebrating the Earth"
14th: Farming the Earth
Speakers: Howard Wass, Methodist Local Preacher and an organic farmer from Kirkby Moorside: Organic Farming –and Bill Cross a lecturer in Agriculture at Askham Bryan College York.- Advances in Farming Technology
21st: Stewards of the Earth
Dr Judith Allinson, botanist, and member of the national Steering Committee for Christian Ecology Link, helps us recognise the local flora; Dan McAndrew Rural Affairs Officer for Harrogate Borough Council’s Planning Department – Local flora and fauna.
28th:Spirituality of the Earth
Speakers to be confirmed. Local artists and horticulturalists to demonstrate how we can find spirituality through these creative mediums.
