Young Voice Pupils

Many congratulations to all ‘The Young Voice Pupils’ who were amazing singing in Manchester on 2nd March in the biggest Children’s Choir of nearly 8,000 pupils. We are extremely proud of you all. Photographs and video links are on the website.

Glan Llyn

Yr 5 pupils will be going on their Glan Llyn Residential visit next week. Please can any outstanding Health Forms including the NHS number be returned to Miss Evans by Monday 9th March, thank you.

Welsh Week ~ Friday 27th February until Friday 6th March.

  • Congratulations to all pupils who entered the many competitions both on and off stage. The standards have been extremely high and the judges have had to make some difficult decisions.
  • A big thank you to everyone who dressed up today in either ‘Traditional Welsh Costume’ or using ‘Colours of the Welsh Flag’. You looked brilliant.
  • Monday 9th March between 3.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m school will be open for families to come and view theentries on display.

School Council Reminder ~ ‘Red Nose’ Activities

  • Thursday 12th March ~ the School Council are arranging fun activities for ‘Red Nose Afternoon’‘Throwing Sponges’ at the teachers 50p ago.
  • Thursday 12th March ~ Miss Griffiths will be sitting in a bath of beans and tomatoes. Any tins would be greatly appreciated. The School Council want to collect 100 tins they have already had 60 tins donated, thank you. ‘Pay to View donations’ will be accepted to see this spectacular event.
  • Thursday 12th March ~ Miss Claire Edwards our cook will be making Red Nose Cookies which will be sold at 50p each. Please order and return the slip to school including payment in a clearly marked envelope by Friday 6th March. (25p will be given to the Red Nose Appeal and 25p will be used to cover the cost).
  • All donations will be given to the RED Nose Appeal.

Sports 4 Schools Reminder ~ No Yr 5 Swimming this week

  • Friday 13th March ~ pupils to wear Sport’s wearfor the day. All pupils from Reception to Yr 6 will be taking part in Sports 4 Schools activities inside, during the morning.
  • Lee Whiteley the Para Olympic Champion will be working with the children.
  • Sponsorship forms and money to be returned by Friday 20th March please. There will be prizes for the highest amount of sponsorship money collected.

Ty Mawr Trip for Class JL Reminder

As part of the curriculum on River Studies Mrs Lewis’ class will be going on a Field Trip to Ty Mawr Education Centre on Thursday 19th March. The pupils will be involved in river study workshops throughout the day, which will enhance their work across the curriculum. All children will require a packed lunch, no glass bottles please, and those currently eligible for free meals will be provided with one from school. We are asking for a contribution of £8.00 towards the cost of the visit which should be paid a.s.a.p.

Family Learning Course

  • Food Safety Level 1 Accredited Course ~ 4 weeks starting 1st until 22nd June on Monday afternoons in the Nursery Building. (4 places still available)
  • This course is open to all parents/carers/grandparents or friends of the school.
  • If you would prefer to complete a 2 day course please contact the main school office.

Great Daffodil Appeal

As usual, we are selling Marie Curie daffodils in school. The appeal funds help to nurse people with a terminal cancer and other illnesses at home, and the charity suggests a minimum of £1 donation. If you wish your child to purchase a daffodil, please send the money into school with them.

Friends of Maes-y-Llan

  • Friday 20th March Non-uniform ~ if possible please can we have chocolate donations for the Bingo.
  • Save the date! Easter Bingo will be held on Thursday 26th March.
  • Doors open 6.00 p.m.
  • Eyes down at 6.30 p.m.
