Purpose

To describe how to assess the competency of Soft LIS users.

Procedure

1.  Retrieve the appropriate User’s LIS Competency Assessment Checklist from the Laboratory Information Systems section of the on-line manual. Hard copy checklists may used as long as the version number has been confirmed as the most recent version.

2.  Print the document(s) and perform the assessment as indicated by the checklist. Hard copy checklists can be retrieved from the personnel files, if appropriate, as long as the version numbers have been confirmed as the most recent version when compared with the on-line manual.

3.  All tasks must be completed within the stated time limits on the checklist.

4.  User and Assessor must initial the checklist upon successful completion of the corresponding task.

Results Interpretation

1.  If the entire checklist is completed successfully, then the User has passed the Competency Assessment.

2.  If the entire checklist is not completed successfully, then the User must repeat the Competency Assessment. After two retries, the User must be retrained using the training checklist.
