CV4 7AL- directs you to Gibbet Hill Road, the main road which runs through the University. Main campus (Conference Park) is signposted from this road. Radcliffe and Scarman are located on Scarman Road and are also signposted from Gibbet Hill Road.

From the North

From the M69/M6 interchange (M6 Jct 2) take A46 towards Warwick and Coventry S & E.

After approximately 3.5 miles you will reach Toll Bar End roundabout (junction with A45). At the roundabout, follow signs for A45 Birmingham.

After approximately 3 miles you will cross the A429 (Kenilworth Road), half a mile after this junction take the left-hand turn signposted 'University of Warwick'. Follow signs for University of Warwick (and Warwick Arts Centre) across two roundabouts. You are now approaching the University of Warwick from Kirby Corner Road.

From the South East

From M45 Jct 1 take A45 towards Coventry.

From M42 Jct 6 take A45 towards Coventry.

After approximately 9 miles you will pass a large Sainsbury store on your left. At the next roundabout (Fire Station on right) take the right-hand exit, signposted 'University and Canley'.

Follow signs for University of Warwick (and Warwick Arts Centre) across two roundabouts. You are now approaching the University of Warwick from Kirby Corner Road.

By rail / bus

There are various rail stations that are easily accessed from the campus and they offer excellent links to Birmingham, London and many other major UK cities.

Typical Travel Times to Coventry:

  • B'ham New Street: 20-30mins
  • B'ham International: 10-15mins

Coventry Rail Station

Coventry rail station, approximately four miles from the campus, is the nearest main-line train station. People travelling locally may find the nearer, but less frequently served, Canley or Tile Hill stations more convenient. Coventry Stationis easily reached from London (Euston), Birmingham and Leicester, all of which run regular and frequent services direct to Coventry. From Coventry Station, there are frequent local bus services to the University.

Walking directions from Coventry Station Exit to Warwick Road Bus Stop:

Visitors should follow the signs from the station to Warwick Road (a 2 minute walk):

  • When entering the concourse from all platforms, exit by the first set of double doors to the left hand side
  • Walk straight ahead along the path, with the drop off point and taxi rank to your right hand side
  • At the end of the building, follow the path round to the left along the red railings
  • Continue along the path towards the steps which will bring you up to the main road and the bus stop

From there catch the Travel Coventry services 12/12A or U1 which travel onto the main campus. The Stagecoach service U1 travels along Warwick Road and onto the Central Campus. More information on bus travel to the University can be found here.

Birmingham International Rail Station

The station that serves Birmingham Airport is Birmingham International. During weekdays trains depart from Birmingham International to Coventry on average every 10 minutes. The journey takes between 10-15 minutes depending on which service is used.

Canley Rail Station

Canley has a small local rail station that is approximately 1.3 miles away from The University - it is a 25 minute walk, a short bike ride or taxi journey to main campus (Note: there isn't a taxi rank at Canley so please ring a taxi in advance). London Midland offer a regular rail service that passes through Canley Stationgoing to London, Milton Keynes, Birmingham New Street, Birmingham International, Coventry, Rugby and Northampton.

Tile Hill Rail Station

Tile Hill rail station is approximately 2.2 miles from the university campus. It is a 45 minute walk, a short bike ride or taxi journey to main campus (Note: there isn't a taxi rank at Tile Hill so please ring a taxi in advance). London Midland offer a regular rail service that passes through Tile Hill Station going to London, Milton Keynes, Birmingham New Street, Birmingham International, Coventry, Rugby and Northampton.

Leamington Spa Rail Station

Leamington Spa rail station is approximately 9.5 miles from the university campus. The station offers rail services to Warwick, Solihull, Coventry, Oxford and Reading as well as a service to London Marylebone.

Stagecoach provides a dedicated frequent bus service from Leamington Spa to the university campus, the Unibus (U1). There is a second version of this route that passes through Kenilworth and is named the U2. For information on this service, please visit the Stagecoach website. Warwick Rail Station

Warwick Station is in Warwick Town - approximately 8.4 miles from the University campus. The University of Warwick is not in Warwick Town. If you are travelling by rail, you are strongly advised to travel to Coventry Station (not Warwick Station) which is closer to the University and has better public transport links.

  • Birmingham, to get to the University from Birmingham airport eithertake the train to Coventry (£3.50 return, 10 minutes) and then local bus (£1.60 single, 25 minutes; exact fare must be paid to driver) or taxi (about £10, 15 minutes) to the University of Warwick(possibly slightly quicker, but expensive - about £30 for the 30 minute ride) take a taxi from the airport to the University of Warwick.
  • East Midlands(near Nottingham) has some international flights, and has an (infrequent) National Express service to Coventry.

London Airports

  • London Heathrowhas many more flights, and is about 2 hours away from Coventry either by bus (National Express) or by rail (via London) - the bus option is simpler, and cheaper.
  • London Lutonalso has various international flights, and is under 2 hours from Coventry by bus (National Express).
  • London Gatwickis the second largest airport in the UK, offering a variety of international flights, and is 3hrs 30mins from Coventry by bus (National Express).
  • London Stanstedhas various international flights, and is 3 hours 30 minutes from Coventry by bus (National Express).

Note that the University is not in the town of Warwick (which is about 8 miles away), and it is not the same as Coventry University (which is a different university, located in the centre of Coventry). This is important when telling taxi drivers where you want to be.
