(Submitted scholarship application should include: a transcript, two letters of recommendation, a biography, and a 1-2-page essay explaining why you deserve to receive the scholarship.

Completed applications must also be emailed in its entirety to any one of the scholarship committee members.

The bio should provide a background of yourself, your accomplishments, and why/where you plan to attend college. NOTE: Bios should be in Arial font and 12 pitch. Please contact any of the below scholarship committee members to forward the application to you and if you have any questions or concerns.

REMINDER: Save the application on your computer, type requested information, then email it, along with transcripts, letters, etc. If you are not able to scan your documents, please contact any committee member and provide a copy. The two letters of recommendation must come from a reputable source.

HOPE FOR THE CITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

1. BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES

The intent of the Gospel Extravaganza is to acknowledge God’s existence and in the process, bless two deserving high school students with college aspirations with a little boost of encourage to strive for his or her goals. Ultimately, each and everyone can do all things through Christ our Savior. The Hope for the City scholarship is to show students that they do not have to go about their journey alone, that the city is behind them and encourage them to be successful is whatever their endeavors may be in life. There are several deserving students who are achieving academic excellence and participating in activities outside of the classroom. This is an annual initiative to recognize the student that displays the most potential for success and has a balance in his or her academics and social life style.

2.  GUIDELINES

A. The Scholarship is awarded on a one-time basis. The following guidelines are applicable when awarding scholarship:

1. Applicants must be a graduating senior of CCHS Class of 2017.

2. Applicants must provide all information requested on the application form(s) and submit a completed application no later than 15 June, 2017 to the scholarship committee via online. Any application received after said date will not be considered for the scholarship. However, because of high school transcript release dates documents can be submitted separately if they are submitted before the deadline 15 June, 2017.

3. Applicants must provide an official copy of his/her school transcript and two letters of recommendation. The two letters of recommendation must come from a reputable source.

4. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher (4.0 Scale).

5. Applicants must submit a typed application. No handwritten applications will be accepted.

B. The following guidelines will be used when administering the scholarship:

1. Before receiving payment, the applicant must provide official proof of registration to an accredited 2 or 4-year academic institution to Mr. Nicholas Morgan, Mr. Valencess Stretchen, Ms. Lucrecia Johnson, and Ms. Deidra Bell prior to the start of the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded. An electronic copy sent to the electronic mail address on this application is acceptable.

3. SELECTION PROCESS

Mr. Nicholas Morgan, Mr. Valencess Stretchen, Ms. Deidra Bell, and Ms. Lucrecia Johnson will provide two $1,000 scholarships to male or female high school seniors from Crisp County High School who is preparing to attend college beginning in the Fall 2017 semester. All candidates must answer the following questions to qualify for a scholarship. The applicant can use additional sheets of paper, if necessary.

The scholarship committee will award the scholarship based on the applicant’s: academic GPA, content of answers to requested information, completion and neatness of the packet, extra-curricular activities, community service, counselor comments on student’s potential, 1-2-page essay explaining why you deserve the scholarship and letters of recommendation.

Comments or questions pertaining to the scholarship program may be addressed to any committee member listed on the application above. The scholarship winner will be announced on the day of the program; therefore, all applicants must be present on the day of the program.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SCHOLARSHIP WINNER MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE GOSPEL EXTRAVAGANZA ON June 24, 2017 AT THE CRISP COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM. IF FOR REASONS BEYOND THE CONTROL OF THE RECEPIENT, AND UNABLE TO ATTEND, CONTACT or , AND ADVISE, SO OTHER ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE MADE.
