QBS Committee Meeting Minutes

Attendees:
- Introductions of members and discussion of QBS and the importance of utilizing QBS in the industry.
- QBS E-Blasts: E-mail blasts were discussed
- Colleen provided data on e-mail blast views, click-backs and un-subscribes
- Colleen discussed that currently the views are at ~30% and we would like to increase this to 50%
- Request for future e-mail blast and communications ideas was presented:
- Send ideas to Colleen for future e-mail blasts
- Possibly look into other modes to share the blasts such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or other social media avenues
- Possibly look into sending out a quiz or survey in order to gauge QBS usage and understanding
- QBS Presentations and Possible Conference Attendance were discussed
- Currently Attend:
- IACT – Indiana Association of Cities and Towns
- IACC – Indiana Associations of County Commissioners
- Purdue Road School
- CEPDS (Civil Engineering Professional Development Seminar)
- APA (American Planning Association)
- Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission
- New Opportunities to Investigate:
- DIRT – Dam Information, Resources and Training Conference
- APWA Snow Conference
- Indiana MPO Conference
- All MPO’s
- ITE Seminar
- AIM Ideas Summit (IACT)
- IWEA (Indiana Water & Environment Association) Conference
- INAFSM (Indiana Association for Floodplain & Stormwater Management) Conference
- MS4 Annual Meeting
- It was discussed by the Committee that it is important to attend and give presentations at these various conferences when applicable
- Banner for booth needs to be updated. Ideas for conference “swag” can be provided to Colleen
- Cash expressed the importance and value of ensuring that the committee knows how to respond to questions as they arise at a conference or presentation, as well as the importance of the committee being up to date on case studies on QBS and being able to provide this information to the client
- Standard presentation is developed and available here:
- Other Outreach Ideas were discussed
- Reach out to Indiana Toll Road
- Reach out to ASCE to inform/engage new engineers early in their career
- Create PDH opportunities for PE’s in order to inform/engage them and promote QBS with their Clients
- Engineering Excellence Awards were discussed:
- Increase the number of entries for the QBS Award
- Ensure that the application is clear and concise
- Ensure that the firm’s personnel responsible for filling out the application understands what QBS is and how to determine if the project was awarded utilizing a QBS system.
- Ensure that firms are aware that they can win two awards for the same project
- Goals for the Year were discussed:
- Increase E-mail Blast viewing to 50%
- Engage social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn
- Give 3 presentations (min.)
- Attend 3 conferences (min.)
Action Items:
- Provide Colleen E-mail Blast Ideas
- Increase/Develop Social Media presence
- Look into Conferences not currently being attended
- Review / revise / update presentation material
- Reach out to Indiana Toll Road about QBS
- Reach out to clients who may not be utilizing QBS
