Subject: Annual Scholarship Program
The Purcellville Volunteer Fire Company’s Scholarship Foundation is now accepting applications from members of Company 2 and their family members who will be continuing their education after high school in the Fall of 2015. Company 2 members who are already attending higher education and have not been awarded this scholarship previously are also eligible to compete. Additionally, active Company 14 members are also eligible to compete.
The purpose of our scholarship foundation is to annually recognize two deserving individuals for their selfless service, personal sacrifice and commitment to excellence by awarding each of them a $1,000 scholarship to help defray the costs associated with higher education.
I strongly encourage all eligible Company 2 members, Company 2 family members, and Company 14 members to apply. The application process is easy and is outlined in the 3-page application form that is available in the company mailbox marked scholarship, online at purcellvillefire.org, or from Firefighter Dave Delmonte. Applications require a copy of your most recent academic transcripts, two letters of recommendation, answers to several brief questions, a 250-word essay, an acceptance letter from where the applicant intends to continue their education, and an interview with the scholarship committee. Please do not let these minimal requirements deter you.
