CQC Meeting
- Have they met their Inspection targets? Is there a pressure of not having enough Inspectors?
Have met their targets and the have had enough inspector’s some from out of area
- Outstanding – most providers are feeling this is hard to get to don’t understand how to achieve not transparent – not robust creates bad feeling
Discussed Sarah will take this to a meeting with inspectors wants to improve relationships more outstanding reports now these have increased
- Needs improvement- inspectors still inspecting to needs improvement sometimes inspectors have integratory style almost accusatory from the onset
Sarah disappointed in this as felt this was better will speak to inspectors about this
- Sometimes feedback is rushed
Not discussed
- Inspections still inconsistent
Sarah will also discuss this with inspector’s
- Medication harsh standards made not taking into account people in their own homes – more hospital standards
Not discussed
- When the inspector says they have received negative reports from service users the provider is not given the details so they can be addressed, and they can’t challenge
Should be corroborated by names of service users service scan ask forname but inspectors can withhold if service users refuse can’t use quotes if no corroborative evidence
- The name of the Inspector is not on the Reports – can they say why
Not on reports because the report is the CQC not the inspectors CQC in discussions to reverse this
- There was an example of an Inspector who actually told the provider they wouldn’t get an ‘Outstanding’ because of the type of work they do e.g. Lone working
Completely incorrect they should have put in a complaint about this she would be happy to receive details
- What training do the Inspectors have and how?
Not discussed
- Some providers were extremely upset at the timing of the inspections e.g. just before Christmas when providers are so busy and do not have extra staff
Services can inform them of manager’s holidays they will take this into account
- Are they still requesting PIR’s
Yes and inspectors do use these as a planning tool but don’t use it on judging the service but will be referring to them more in future.
