Introduction. We would also like him to shake the hand of each graduate as they walk across the stage (after their name is called).

Jim Sandoval is speaking before him and there is a dance tribute by the NSA dancers following his address.

Yes. Desiree Bray and Oluafemi Okusanya. They are both graduating seniors.

Just the graduates and their guests. We will also have the first Black UCR female graduate in the audience so he may want to acknowledge her presence.

- African Black Coalition Conference/Direction that the Chancellor wants to take/Looking forward to working with returning students as well as alumni students.
- Highlight the meeting with the Chancellor’s Cabinet and students.
- Highlight the articles that came out regarding UCR having the highest rate of Black graduates (I can provide the articles if necessary).
- The theme of this year’s Black Graduation is “Those who do not know, can know from Learning: Quest for Knowledge, Inherited Strength, Lifelong Education.” This is the quote from the Adinkra symbol, Nea onnim no sua a, ohu.

The event was established about 8 years ago.

It is an annual event.
How does this event further the goals of the University? (ie: promoting education, developing community relationships, furthering research goals, scholarship cultivation, etc)
Black Graduation furthers the goals of UCR by promoting academic excellence, persistence and degree attainment. It also encourages the establishment of alumni relationships. Black Graduation also fosters the leadership and volunteer skills of our students through their participation in the planning of the event.
