Overview of Job Description:
The design room assistant – foam cutter and sample wrapper individual is primarily responsible for sample building and sample shipment preparation. In addition, this person is responsible for the outside work station; maintaining shipping supplies and the wrapping/heating equipment. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to the following: Cutting foam for inserts which include new baskets for presentations and sold baskets required for sample shipments, wrapping samples and boxing them for shipment.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
· Sample Preparation. This includes the following:
o Cut foam inserts/pieces using the foam cutting machine for all presentation baskets and samples requested by customers.
o Cut foam for all baskets in the WCGB photo shoot. Work closely with designers on basket specs and desired height for photo shoot sample.
o Assist sample builder and build basket samples as requested by design and sales for presentations.
o Prepare and wrap samples as needed, i.e. presentations or shipment.
o Work with designers (Senior & Junior) on foam pieces that they need for designs.
o Work with the design supervisor on sample requests.
o Assist with building baskets as requested by the designers.
o Assist sample builder and mock up individual as needed on mock –up product/ samples.
· Responsible for workspace and related equipment.
o Maintain outside workspace area and wrapping equipment.
o Responsible for supply qty and turning off equipment at end of day for safety.
o Keep workspace area clean, organized and help in storing sample baskets.
Administrative and Other Responsibilities:
· Attend design team meetings.
Typical Physical Demands:
· Light to moderate lifting - Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Use of machinery. Must follow all safety regulations and procedures.
· Must use all safety and/or hazardous precaution materials when operating machinery.
Typical Working Conditions:
· Office environment but will have access and need to work in the warehouse.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to:
· Must be able to demonstrate the following qualities: Organization, multi- task, problem solve, and detail orientated.
· Good communication skills and able to work well with others in a fast paced work environment. Bi-lingual preferred but not required. Must have some comprehension of English language.
· Self starter and able to work without supervision.
Knowledge of:
· Basic Computer Skills. We can teach them how to access the computer and open a cost sheet and print if necessary.
Education:
· High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
· Full or part time work experience in manufacturing environment helpful.
· Some experience with machinery helpful.
