Homework Club is Back!

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Kristina Boyes has joined the Kona Pacific Public Charter School team as our new Title I Tutor. She comes from a family of teachers and brings many skills to this position. Homework Club has resumed.

Ohana Night Tonight

Tim Burns, dynamic international speaker and published author, will be presenting at the Kona Pacific PCS Community Potluck on January 30th, 2014. His talk, “The Amazing Brain: A Work in Progress,” will begin at 6 p.m. Please tell your friends and family about this tremendous opportunity!

Chocolate Festival May 3rd

Get ready for a decadent night of chocolate, dancing, and raising funds for Kona Pacific at the 3rd Annual Big Island Chocolate Festival being held onMay 3rdat the Fairmont Orchid.

Early bird tickets are available right now! KPPCS family and friends can get early bird tickets for $65, but hurry, there are only 85 left at this price. General admission price is $75 and $100 at the door. We sold out last year, so don’t delay! The Chocolate Festival supports KPPCS, so join in on the fun and the fundraising!

6th Grade Honey Sale

The 6th grade class is selling local, organic honey from Big Island Bees. Jars of honey can be purchased from the office or talk with a 6th grade student.

7th Grade Cinnamon Sale

The 7th grade class is selling local, organic Oceanfire Cinnamon from Adaptations in Kealakekua. This is a delicious spice grown and processed right here on the Big Island. Jars of cinnamon can be purchased from the office or talk with a 7th grade student. The students are selling the bottles for $10.00 a piece and will keep half of the proceeds as a fundraiser for their 8th grade graduation trip.

8th Grade Drink Cozy Sale

The 8th grade is selling hand-knitted drink cozies as a fundraiser for their graduation trip. They are available in a variety of colors such as pink, green, gray, and variegated purple. They are $3 each or $5 for one with a flower design. Please see Kristen in the 8th grade if you are interested!

Hiring for Gardening Assistant

We are looking for someone with experience working with children grades 1 to 8 in an educational setting. Someone with strong gardening skills is preferred.

This is an hourly position with approximately 20 hours per week at a rate of $12 per hour. We are looking for someone to begin work as soon as possible with the following schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm.

School Year 2014-2015

The ideal candidates will have a deep understanding of Waldorf education, and will be consummate professionals with a passion for co-creating, collaboration, and teamwork. We look to our teachers to lead in parent education and to develop a strong community around our school that is supportive of the education. Individuals who possess high expectations, a strong sense of personal accountability, a positive attitude and excellent communication skills are a must.

Minimum qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree, Waldorf credential or equivalent experience, 2 years experience working with children.Desirable qualifications include:extensive teaching experience, state teaching credential.
