ACCOMMODATION INFORMATION SHEET

WoolfCollege provides dedicated postgraduate accommodation at the University of Kent. The College comprises 544 residential rooms, plus an academic building with lecture theatre, seminar rooms and social area. The College is operated by UPP Ltd. However, the University deals directly with students in the allocation of rooms, administering of licenses, and pastoral matters.

UPP TEAM

Woolf Reception is situated in the Pavilion where our dedicated Helpdesk, Maintenance and Housekeeping teams are on hand to assist with any queries you may have. Reception is open from 1000 to 1300 and 1400 to 1600 Monday to Friday and 0900 to 1400 on Saturdays. Our telephone number is +441227 379313.

ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

WoolfCollege has a variety of different room options available throughout the site and all of the bedrooms offer ensuite shower and toilet facilities.

Studio Bedroom – Size: 17sq metres

The Studio combines living and study space with a small kitchenette together with an ensuite shower room and toilet. These rooms act as small self-contained flats. There are 41 studios available at Woolf, including one adapted studio for disabled access. An example can be seen to the right.

The Study Bedroom has:The kitchenette is equipped with:

● A large single bed with mattress● A two ring electric hob

(212 x 122 x 18cm)with under bed storage ● Microwave Combi oven

● Wardrobe with full length mirror● Under unit fridge with freezer box.

● Built in desk light● Storage cupboards and work surface

● A study chair● Small dining table and two chairs

Large Bedroom – Size: 17sq metres

The Enhanced room provides a larger living and study space than the standard room, again with an ensuiteshower room and toilet, and with access to a kitchen shared by four other residents. An example can be seen to the right.

The Study Bedroom has:

●A large single bed (212 x 122 x 18cm) with under bed storage and mattress.

●Wardrobe with full length mirror● An easy chair for relaxing

●Shelves● A study chair

●Built in desk light

Standard Bedroom – Size: 12sq metres

The Standard room provides living and study space with an ensuite shower room and toilet. The kitchens are shared with either 5 or 7 other residents.An example can be seen to the right. Three rooms are also adapted for disabled access.

The Study Bedroom has:

●A single bed (212 x 94 x 18cm) with under bed storage and mattress.

Enhanced and Standard Kitchens

The Enhanced and standard kitchens are equipped with:

● A four ring electric hob (two for 8 bed flats)● Two storage cupboards per person

● Electric oven (two for 8 bed flats)● Two fridge freezers

● Microwave● Dining table and a chair per resident

● Kettle● Two-seater sofa and coffee table

● Sink and drainer● An internal University phone

● A rubbish bin for general waste and recycling

BEDDING AND TOWELS

Bedding packs can be ordered in advance by emailing with your name and room number. Stocks are limited. Payment is taken on arrival in cash. Unfortunately debit/ credit cards and cheques cannot be accepted. Towelling packs can be ordered via the University online by visiting

GREEN ETHOS AT WOOLFCOLLEGE

We encourage Woolf residents to be eco-friendly and UPP support this by providing a separate facility for recycling, a conduit for charitable giving and regular information regarding utilities consumption.

LAUNDRY FACILITIES

Coin operated laundry facilities can be located in the Pavilion and all residents are welcome to use the washers and dryers 24/7. Your must provide your own soap powder/ liquid and softener.

TELEPHONES

The only mobile network with available signal in the accommodation blocks is O2. We do recommend organising a UK mobile phone before your arrival. Please take this into consideration.Telephones are provided in each kitchen and studio to enable residents to call any internal number within the University. Please note: external calls cannot be made or received using these telephones.

INTERNET

On arrival at WoolfCollege all residents are issued with an IT data cable and guidance booklet on how to connect to the internet. The University also offer a separate helpdesk facility to offer remote assistance with IT queries. Unfortunately WIFI can only be accessed in the common room.

BIKE STORE

There is a bike store onsite at WoolfCollege where residents can safely lock their bikes. All residents are responsible for their bikes whilst they are on site.

CAMPUS WATCH

Campus Watch is the onsite campus security department and officers patrol all colleges day and night, 7 days per week. They can be contacted by calling 3300 or 3333 in an emergency from your kitchen/ studio telephone or by using the emergency call point situated on the outside of the Pavilion.

CAMPUS SUPERMARKET – ‘ESSENTIALS’

Essentials is the campus supermarket where you can purchase basic groceries, sandwiches, newspapers etc. Term time opening hours are below.

Monday - Friday: 07.00 - 03.00

Saturday: 09.00 - 03.00

Sunday: 09.00 - 24.00

Woolf Reception will publish out of term time opening hours just before the end of each term.

OUT OF HOURS CHECK-IN

We appreciate that some of your arrival times will depend on flights, travel arrangements etc which is why we can offer an out of hours check in service.

If you are planning to arrive after 2200 during welcome weekend or after 1700 during the following weeks, please email in advance to let us know. On your arrival at WoolfCollege, please contact Campus Watch (details above) and one of their security guards will check you in. We do ask that all residents who have checked in out of hours report to Woolf Reception when it opens the following day to pick up your welcome pack and inventory.

UNIBUS – SEASON TICKETS

There is a regular bus service between the University campus and the town centre which runs all year round. Students can purchase a yearly season ticket at a discounted price if purchased during welcome week. COMMON ROOM

The Woolf College Common Room is a great place to socialise, study and relax with your fellow residents. A flat screen television, vending machines and printing facilities are available for residents of WoolfCollege to use. The common room can be accessed from 0800 to midnight 7 days per week.
