Adopt-an-Agency Program
2012-2013 Application
A Community Partnership Initiative
The Adopt-an-Agency Program gives service-focused student groups the opportunity to focus their efforts, providing consistent, meaningful, on-going service and support to one local nonprofit agency, while also giving the agency a more stable, knowledgeable volunteer population. This helps student groups to develop stronger relationships and partnerships within the community and contribute to the solution of community needs.
Expectations of the Adopt-an-Agency Program
- Commit at least one year to a local nonprofit agency
- Have a minimum of one activity/act of service per month. (Activities would depend greatly on agency needs, and could include fundraising, direct service, training, recruitment, outreach, special events, etc.)
- Remain in regular communication with the agency to determine needs, and to effectively respond to needs.
- Represent Florida State University as a dependable, professional and responsible group of students.
Benefits of adopting an agency
- Learn more about the agency, its mission, services, clients, staff, funding, etc.
- Achieve a deeper awareness and understanding of the needs in the community.
- Gain valuable and meaningful professional and personal experience.
- Develop and strengthen your leadership capacity.
