Tractor/Loader Safety Rules

  1. Only drivers authorized by the manager and trained in the safe operation of a tractor shall be permitted to operate such vehicles.
  2. Drivers shall check the vehicle and if it found to be unsafe, the matter shall be reported immediately to a manager, and the vehicle shall not be put into service again until it has been made safe.
  3. Vehicles shall not exceed the safe speed and shall maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
  4. No riders shall be permitted on vehicles.
  5. Stunt driving and horseplay are prohibited.
  6. Loading vehicles shall not be moved until the load is safe and secure.
  7. When leaving a vehicle unattended, the power shall be shut off, brakes set, the loader bucket brought down to the ground and left in the down position.
  8. Tractor shall not be driven up to anyone standing in front of a fixed object of such size that the person could be caught between the truck and the object.
  9. Operators shall look in the direction of travel and shall not move a vehicle until certain that all persons are in the clear.
  10. Employees shall not ride on the bucket or the hitch area of the tractor.
  11. The bucket shall always be carried as low as possible.
  12. Extreme care shall be used when lifting loads.
  13. Employees shall not place any part of their body outside the running lines of the tractor or between loadermechanism or other parts of the tractor where shear or crushing hazards exists.
  14. Employees shall not be allowed to stand, pass or walk under the elevated portion of tractor bucket, loaded or empty.
  15. Tractor shall not be loaded in excess of their rated capacity.
  16. No tractor shall operate with a leak in the fuel system.
  17. Extreme care should be taken placing loads in customer’s truck or trailer. Use a low gear and stay clear of contacting the vehicle you are loading into.
  18. No smoking while operating or refueling tractor.
