Chatty Bunch

Wednesday 7th October 2015

Attendance: Shirley Maker, Keith Clements, Isabelle Mirowski, Dawn Irvine, Stephen Foster, James Silver, Lee Hughes, Lisa Foreman, Christine Kissane, Alex Scott, Kym Jacks, Arabela Negrea

We introduced ourselves to each other.

As a group we read through the minutes of the last chatty bunch and Alex had been left off the attendance - Shirley to adjust the minutes some of the actions still to be done are:

Shirley will Contact Mick Re: Dawne name calling from children at pent valley school

We asked Dawne how she knew the children were from Pent Valley School and she said she knew one of them by name.

This information will be passed onto Mick and hopefully it can be resolved.

I will leave the next item in the minutes due to it still needs to be addressed.

Steve! – buses contact going to fast 102 and elham valley, there was a discussion about what happens on the buses and Shirley showed everyone the bus complaint s form and Shirley will try and find out who the operations manager is for the Shepway area.

There was also a discussion about the buses that go up sandgate hill around the time the schools come out. The people hang around by the door and bags etc. are left on the floors. When the bell is rung there is not time to get through everyone and the bags and the bus often drives off thinking it is the children just ringing the bell. Shirley to find out more about this via the Bus Company and maybe Mick Cronin.

Bus passes were also discussed, Keith and Lee said they did not have bus passes. This stops them going on the bus with their day services – Shirley to check re the forms to fill in. – Kym gave out forms to go home with Keith and Lee

There was discussion about nuisance phone calls and how upsetting they are – Think about what we can do about these.

We had a small discussion on this saying that you can contact your phone company to help with this as a first option.

Everyone gave us their news: Alex gave us his good news about becoming the Joint Chair of the Keeping Safe Group and that he will be working with Mick Cronin and is looking forward to going to Maidstone Headquarters. He was very pleased he got the news while he was on holiday, which made his holiday so much better.

James went to Minehead on a coach with a lot of his friends. It was a bit stressful to start with as Mums car had got a flat tyre but he got to the coach in time thanks to another relative.

Alex had been to Cornwall and seen where Doc Martin was filmed Port Quinn and Port Talbot and the weather was lovely.

Dawne had been to Ireland in August and stayed in 5 hotels and B and B’s. The weather was cold there.

Lee, Steve and Christine had told us about Hayling Island and how they were looking forward to going again next year.

Keith had been to stay with his mum and enjoyed his time with her.

We talked about change as Steve is moving soon and how it can be scary but it can also be an adventure also.

Shirley showed everyone a Health questionnaire and we discussed some of the items on the questionnaire, what they are and if they felt it affected them or not and they could choose whether they said yes or no to items.

This led onto another discussion on how lots of different professionals, family and friends can help support them in their lives.

We look forward to seeing you at the next
