TECHNICAL INFORMATION FROM COURSE SETTERS

The course will take place in the south part of the map Kljucic Brdo, which means the less used area in the previous editions. The layout of the course wants to strength the main technical characteristic of the terrain: multiple contour lines in an excellent continental terrain. To reduce the physical effort, the competitors will have the chance to practice a good reading of the contour lines to avoid unnecessary climbing.

The layout aims to promote the most of techniques of map reading, as aiming offs, navigation over the contour line, “running in parallel” using big noses and re-entrances. The use of the compass should not be essential if the participant has a normal sense of direction and a good control of map reading. The angle of exit after each point will be relevant many times according with the number of controls that contains a change direction, but an extensive use of the compass for this purpose will mean a penalization on time for expert runners.

The runnability of the terrain is mostly good, and in some areas just excellent. Nevertheless, in some areas the participants will find vegetation that reduces visibility of the contour lines and that would affect on the speed of navigation, even if the terrain allows a faster running.

Our last advice. Do not loss time trying to avoid rivers and watercourses; you will end up wet anyway ;).
