Pulse Dance Company (originally named “Full-FX”) was established in 1992 through Studio for the Living Arts DanceCenter, located in Gray, Maine. Pulse is a 68 member youth performing group of serious, passionate, and energetic dancers between the ages 9 and 18 .The “Pulse” training program combines superior instruction, performance opportunities, and a strong connection to community service.

Pulse Dance Company is directed by Susan Cloutier. The faculty at Studio for the Living Arts DanceCenter collaboratively produces all Pulse choreography for each new dance season. Pulse dancers spend many hours a week training in ballet, jazz, tap , hip-hop, and lyrical classes as well as choreography sessions. Over the past 18 years the Company has presented choreography works by Elizabeth Avantaggio, Jennifer Bourgeault, Dina Burley, Heather Collins, Susan Cloutier, Kim Monaghan-Derrig, Bethany Field, Ellen Frye, Beth Gaudet, Tina Rae Kelly, Jennifer Lloyd, Victoria Perreault, Amanda Preble, Stefanie Russell, DeeDee St. Peter, Andrea Sharron and Bruce Tracy.

Pulse Dance Company is a competition team as well as a performing arts ensemble. Since 1992 the dancers have traveled to numerous dance conventions, master classes, competitions, and Nationals in Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New York ,and the New England area. Competitions are intended to be a learning experience for Pulse students to improve their own ability, to perform and be critiqued by a panel of judges, and to make new friends that share a similar passion for dance. Our dancers and faculty have earned many awards and competition trophies through the years, but we believe success is best measured by being your own personal best.
