CWW DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION POLICY

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to support and facilitate an inclusive environment which embraces differences in gender, culture and language, sexual orientation and gender identification, age, a person’s ability (including mental and physical), qualifications and experiences in addition to differences in approach and opinions.

At City West Water we recognise the benefits these differences make to our people, our community and our business.

Scope

The objectives, responsibilities and processes outlined in this policy apply to all City West Water employees.

Policy Statement

City West Water recognises that actively supporting diversity and inclusion not only helps us to achieve our vision of being an exceptional service provider that puts customers first and benefits the community, it also helps us to attract, retain and develop the best people to service the needs of our community.

Our ambition is enabled by our people, who are our most valuable asset. We know our people each represent different life and work experiences, skills and knowledge, languages, ethnicities, family status, religious and cultural backgrounds and sexual orientation.

Our ability to embrace diversity and inclusiveness practices within our business means we will be an organisation as diverse as the community we serve, that welcomes different perspectives and actively supports all of our people to achieve fulfilling careers.

How diversity and inclusion will be promoted at CWW

City West Water is committed to becoming an industry leader in diversity and inclusion in the workplace. In order to leverage the high performance that results from this we will:

·  Develop, implement, review and report on our Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan that incorporates the Disability and Reconciliation Action Plans;

·  Communicate openly with stakeholders, including customers and employees, to ensure this policy is readily accessible and included in all Induction materials;

·  Hold our leaders accountable for ensuring a culture of inclusion, where every employee thrives and contributes to the provision of services to our customers;

·  Support flexible working through the provision of toolkits to all employees and managers and ensure industry best practice with respect to individual flexible work arrangements;

·  Create a physical and cultural environment which supports a person’s ability, not disability, when we employ and promote employees;

·  Ensure we source candidates from a wide range of talent pools and uphold gender balance across all recruitment processes;

·  Review and update our systems, policies and procedures to ensure we reduce and actively manage conscious and unconscious bias;

·  Establish targets and report regularly against these targets to hold ourselves to account;

·  Make reasonable adjustments to services and/ or facilities consistent with legislation, CWW policy and industry best practice with respect to individual flexible work arrangements; and,

·  Collaborate effectively to influence and create an inclusive and equitable water industry.

Our responsibilities as employees of CWW

All City West Water employees are responsible for:

· taking all reasonable steps to uphold this Diversity and Inclusion Policy;

· preventing and addressing any form of unlawful discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation in the workplace;

· supporting the implementation of all diversity and inclusion action plans and activities;

· ensuring effective engagement with and between people whose identities, perspectives and interests differ significantly;

· recognising and embracing the diversity each person brings to our workplace;

·  understanding, respecting and applying this Diversity and Inclusion Policy with stakeholders, including customers and employees; and,

·  reporting any alleged or potential behaviours that contravene this policy or relevant legislation.

Review Process and History

The Policy will be reviewed every two years or more frequently as required.

Approved by management in October 2017.

Next due for review by Management in October 2019.
