Monday- Lesson 3-2: Recognizing Numbers on a Ten-Frame

Common Core Standards: 1.OA.5

Objective: Students will learn to recognize numbers on a ten-frame, noting the relationship of those numbers to 5 and 10.

1.  Review: Daily Common Core Review worksheet 3-2: Teacher will place the worksheet under the document camera. Students will discuss to complete together to review the concepts: modeling addition situations, ordering numbers, and writing number sentences.

2.  Teacher will introduce today’s lesson 3-2 with computer CD topic 3 lesson 2: Recognizing Numbers on a Ten-Frame.

3.  Develop the Concept: Interactive (packet sheet 95): Teacher will pass out lesson 3-2 packets to students and will follow directions on teacher’s guide pg. 96 to complete the packet sheet. This will include using blank mini ten-frames and counters to complete the problems.

4.  Develop the Concept: Visual: On packet sheet 96, teacher will model how to use counters to act out and solve subtraction story problems. Class will work together on problems on pages 96 and 97 to answer questions on sheets and those questions given in teacher’s guide for teacher to ask on the same pages. After work is done on the problems, class will discuss and check/correct their work on pages 96-98.

5.  Re-teaching Practice: Students will open workbook up to pg. 3-1. Teacher will remodel and class will discuss and work together on problems on this workbook page.

6.  Independent Practice: Students will complete workbook pg. P3-1. After work time, teacher will place her copy under the document camera and students will discuss and check/correct their work on this workbook page.

7.  Intervention Activity: “The Meaning of More Than” teacher’s guide pg. 98B.

Tuesday- Lesson 3-3: Parts of 10

Common Core Standard: 1.OA.6

Objective: Students will show 10 as two parts.

1.  Daily Common Core Review 3-3 worksheet work together under the document camera: review writing number sentences, modeling basic facts, applying basic facts, and writing number sentences.

Objective: Students will use counters and a part-part-whole mat to find missing parts of 10.

Thursday- Lesson 3-5: Problem Solving: Make a Table

Objective: Students will make tables to solve problems.

Friday- Topic 3 Five and Ten Relationships Re-teaching

Common Core Standard: 1.OA.4, 1.OA.5, 1.OA.6

Objective: Use a ten-frame to model numbers up to 10. Show 10 as two parts. Use counters and a part-part-whole mat to find missing parts of 10.

Teacher will pass out Topic 3 Re-teaching packet. Students will place their name on the packet. Answers are on teacher’s guide pgs. 111-112. Teacher will place a copy of the packet under the document camera and model everything in the packet with class reading, listening, participating in discussing how to solve each problem, and working of the problems. Make sure students answer all questions correctly. If they do, they may take their work packet home.

Teacher will use Math Interactive Big Book on easel up front to work through the story, “Subtraction Dance Party” with students.

Enrichment Worksheets 3-5, and the Re-teaching 3-5, answers in teacher manual page 110B. Teacher will place each of those worksheets under the document camera and pick one student to fill out their copy as the class reads, discusses and talks about how to work each problem on the page.
