“My Hopes & Dreams” PowerPoint Presentation
This slideshow will be used as a visual presentation guide for your Hopes and Dreams speech.
- Log in and open the PowerPoint program.
- Select the desired design elements for your slides. You can use the format button to change the color of the slide background. You can use the insert button to insert text, pictures, etc. Be creative, but make sure your audience can clearly read your slides. Do not include everything you plan to say on your slides -- only a few key words and phrases and some photos or other visuals.
- Slide 1 = Title of your speech, your name, and graphics representing both “then and now” for your career interests.
- Slide 2 = Information about the job (what is a typical day like? What type of setting do you work in? Do you work by yourself or with others? Indoors or outdoors? High stress or low stress? Etc., etc.)
- Slide 3 = Why is this job a good fit for your personality and interests? What appeals to you about this job?
- Slide 4 = What skills are most important for this job? Which of these do you already have? Which of these do you still need to learn?
- Slide 5 = Training required for the job – What type of education or training do you need? What are some places in Kansas where you can get that training? Include the results of your MapQuest inquiry about how far your college is from home as well as thoughts your parents have about the location that you are interested in attending for your training.
- Slide 6 = Salary and Outlook – What is the average annual salary in Kansas? In the US? Is the job growing or declining – in other words, will you be likely to find a job in this area after you graduate?
- Slide 7 = Getting Ready – What are you going to do to prepare for this career over the next four years? – What classes should you take? What activities should you be involved in? Hobbies? Etc.
- Slide 8 = Thoughts on “My Hopes and Dreams” – Closing Thoughts.
- Slide 9 = Works Cited – Use easybib.com to correctly list all websites and resources used.
- Remember to save your presentation as you build and edit it!
- When you are finished with your presentation, feel free to use your school email account to attach the presentation and email it to: and for previewing. Mrs. Heward may provide you with feedback so you can improve your presentation prior to your assigned speech day.
