Undergraduate Research In Humanities Awards
Department of English
Overview of the Award
Undergraduate research is broadly defined as a project that enables individual students or groups of students to pose or work from a defined research question, apply methods of inquiry to generate findings, and share the findings with others through presentation and publication. To highlight the high level research being carried out by undergraduate students in English, the Office for Undergraduate Research (OUR) and Department of English are pleased to offer the Undergraduate Research in Humanities Awards. For the 2013/2014 academic year two awards of $250 each will be provided to recognize outstanding research within all areas of English (Literary Studies, Creative Writing, Professional and Technical Writing). Students who are recognized will be expected to present their research at the Undergraduate Research and Arts Colloquium on 15 April 2014 and will be recognized within the meeting program. Recipients will also be recognized at the English Department Awards Ceremony at the end of the semester.
Eligibility
All undergraduate students with a declared major in English who are engaged in research activities, either within a course or in an individually mentored or directed situation (Honors thesis, independent study, etc.), may apply for the Undergraduate Research in Humanities Award. The following stipulations are attached to the award:

2. Eligible students MUST be declared an English major not later than 7 August 2013.
3. Eligible students MUST have been mentored by English department faculty or graduate students (either within a course or individually).
